Pretty much what the title suggests, how do you get the music you listen to? Do you buy CD's? Or just cut out the middle man and buy them straight of the internet? Or do the naughty and just download them free of the internet? I personally get them of iTunes, but I'm beginning to resent iTunes, as it feels I can't handle listening to a song with a couple of rude words, and how expensive some of (well most of) the stuff they sell is.

So I'm also looking for advice on were to legally acquire more music.

Note - LEGALLY

CDs are ridiculously expensive here due to shipping costs.. we're talking $30 per CD you buy.. so I either borrow and rip CDs or listen to freeware music.. OCRemixes, Khavi, youtube, artists on myspace etc.

I buy the cd or the vinyl record. Best quality, best feel and it is a hard copy. They will never die!

I buy my CDs but usually I just borrow them from friends and return them after I have ripped them to my PC and MP3 player.

I think borrow should be a poll option.

I download for free, if it's good I'll buy it, if it's crap I'll delete it.

I personally find anyone that pays PHYSICAL money for an MP3 is a bit on the silly side. Why not buy the CD, rip it and you have the best of both worlds.....apart from the ability to tell people how cool you are because you shop at iTunes.

I buy from iTunes. Mostly because I will have to hunt at the back of my local music store for anything remotely fitting my taste. Even then it's a frankly pitiful selection. I find iTunes quicker and easier.

The internet has changed the way I buy music. in my cd collection I have probably 700+ cd's just from buying albums whenever I liked a certain song from a band. Since I can now download albums and listen to them before I buy I don't buy as many. If I like a cd ( my criteria is 4 good songs or more) I will pay money for it as the artists deserve it. But a cd with 12 songs 11 of which are shit does not deserve my money.

I torrent 90% of my music, burn 6% from my friends' CDs, and buy the other 4%-- usually at concerts where I can get the CD signed by the band.

yup me too, it's sometimes the only way to get the album as well

a couple of my local record shops know me, guess buying $100+ each visit has the effect on a store. and honestly the store i go to is one of the best stores i've ever been to based on it's location. it's an independent store but it specializes in more eclectic stuff rather than the latest top 40 albums, i doubt they stock britney spears and stuff like that and have a very small rap section, and for where they are located
