Well folks, fresh off of a late night Netflix instant stream movie viewing I've decided to get into the 'review game' as I see so bluntly it. And yes before you begin to wonder that first sentence this is my first true online review of anything so any constructive criticism, suggestions or comments would be more than welcome...Okay that's all said and done now on with the review.:
Easy, centers on a quirky young beauty named Jamie(Marguerite Moreau). She has a bad habit of falling for and sleeping with jerks who never keen on sticking around. Her poor choice of guys is evidenced by the array of voice mails on her answering machine that accompany the opening credits. At wits end, she ropes her sister into accompanying her to a book signing event. The author of said books is her old college professor John(Naveen Andrews-Sayeed from the TV series Lost).Fighting against the urge to take a roll in the hay with him, she thinks John won't be another next day ditcher. One thing leads to another and Jamie(who by way of her battles with a smoking addiction) meets local TV show host Mick(Brian O'Byrne) who asks her to appear on his show upon finding out her unique and potentially humorous job (naming new consumer items) For a while all appears to be going well before things go south with John, which makes her reconsider her TV appearance....that she ultimately goes through with after abit of pushing from her family. The show appearance goes over well as Jamie lightens up, Mick and the audience laugh. But its after the show when an unexpected chase scene, that by some accident see's Jamie severely hurt after talking down a jumper through revealing abit of her own sad back story. But all does not end there as Jamie make's a crucial personal decision and some drama plays out not just in her life but in the lives and relationships of the people around her (Mick, her sister, John) as she slowly but surely grows closer and more attached to Mick before finally after a critical time finally is able to profess to loving him after he tells her that he loves her. And after that abit more drama unfolds but all is quickly righted
And as far as the story goes it does a great job of speaking of how in life somethings such as sex tend to be easier than others like love. Par for the course with the story, in the cast all the major players(Marguerite, Naveen, Brian) all play there roles rather well and aid the characters they portray in coming across as normal human beings who are flawed that don't always think straight when in the moment or when their actions are fueled by varying emotions. That said though I at least found myself coming to the conclusion(guess at first though it was) that Mick and Jamie would end up together in one way or another.(and it wound up being both in this case) I also found some scenes involving only two characters(more than one of which Jamie was in) to be abit awkward but those were few and far in between. All in all though I enjoyed Easy and I'd encourage any Escapist with Netflix or other means of getting the movie to give it a watch
