This one is for all you parents or backseat parents out there. As the poll question states, is it okay for a child under 3 to have marble sized candies? ie: Jelly Beans, Lemon Drops, Gumballs, Jawbreakers, etc.

Personally I say, hell no it is not appropriate. On a more logical level, I say, why tempt fate? Kids under 3 shouldn't have certain toys because the small parts pose a choking hazard, so why would you give them candy of about the same size and unchewableness as a damn toy?

Side note: Jelly Beans are mostly chewable unless they are stale or crappy, but are just about the right size to choke on, so they are on the list.

I ask this question because it seems nobody at our daycare seems to care. What are your thoughts?

You really shouldn't be feeding toddlers candy in the first place. Proper nutrition is most important when they're young.

However, with the *possible* exception of jellybeans, all of those are massive choking hazards as well. So if these are made available at your daycare, it's time to switch.
