I know this isn't exactly news, but since the game has been reviewed by a lot of gaming sites and the launch is just over a week away I thought it's worth mentioning. Plus, I just want to give my opinion on a game I've been waiting for for a couple years now.

You probably already know this, but Alan Wake is now a 360 exclusive. It was going to be on both PC and 360 at one point, and Remedy claims they still have the PC version with them. Because of this, I really don't see why they shouldn't. It's not gonna cost much more to develop a version the already have and it would only broaden the audience. Hell, Microsoft could admit that putting the game on, say, Games for Windows Live would boost sales and give them more money. What do you think?

Here's a link to my Steam Group if you're interested: http://steamcommunity.com/groups/ALANWAKEFORPC?

Yes definetly. It looks pretty interesting. I'd like to try it out. And it's Remedy. Didn't they make Max Payne?
Yes they did. One of the reasons I first got interested in the game.

Well, that doesn't make much sense at all: Why would you not release a finished game, especially if it would make the company who you're making the game for more money?

Methinks there is more to this than meets the eye...

I just don't care anymore.

If they did release it on PC I wouldn't buy it anyway, no matter how great it was, because taking away the PC version in the first place was a dick move and I'm not very forgiving of dick moves.

That's what I was thinking, but haven't really found out much of why except maybe Microsoft trying to push 360 sales even more. Still not much of a reason not to.

Well the most logical, if cynical, answer is Microsoft threw large bags of cash at them not to. Enough cash to make it more profittable not to release the PC version.

But that's just the thing: Microsoft more or less owns the entire market of computers, so it seems like no one is really winning as is. There's got to be some underlying sense to all of it though, right?

It's probably to keep the Xbox alive since the PS3 has been gaining on it for a while now

Not a bad theory; I always forget that the PS3 has finally started emerging as a competitor in the "console wars". It's actually quite hilarious just how balanced this generation of consoles is, if you think about it.

On topic though, I suppose that would make sense, from a pure competition sense, but it still seems like a huge waste. Maybe it's just a timed-exclusive and they'll release it on PC later.

Yes, but if you buy it then they'll realize that people really wanted it for the PC and might release future games on the PC without taking it away.

MS make much more money from selling a 360 game than a PC game. Its really easy as that. They have to pay back the 5 years of development.

I think they will release it on PC in 6-12 months though.

They did say a PC version was "in the air" so it's a possibility. Though, I don't think it's likely.
