Predator would have to be my pick. I love the original Alien, don't get me wrong, but I watched Predator with my best friends, and their commentary during the movie was the best thing I've ever heard. Made for a more memorable time.

the whole AvP thing was pretty dumb i mean the idea was movie gold but when you chuck humans into the mix (note these we were humans so cliche they could've starred in a disney film)it all went down hill and ended up as a cheesey gore-fest that was idiotic rather than scary or exciting. What we should have got is a real Alien Vs Predator fight with no humans involved (or at the very least not the lame humans co-operating with predators) OR an oubreak of aliens on the predaor homeworld now that i would go and watch

Aliens!
Alien is awesome, too, but in Aliens you get a more detailed look at the background of the series (especially Weyland-Yutani).

Alien 3 was pretty weak but okay, Alien 4 was hilarious but even weaker than three.

Predator was meh.
Predator 2 was pretty cool (isn't listed here), again with the background on the Predators and the main character even being "accepted" by the other Predators as a fellow hunter.

AvP 1 and 2 were both alright I guess, but not that great.
I would've liked them to be set in the future instead (like the AvP games).

Gotta love how NOBODY voted for Predator 2, no surprise there since it was, in my opinion, the one undeniably bad film on that list. Still, I gave my vote to Alien: Resurection, it used to be my least favorite film in the series, but going back and rewatching it later gave me a real appreciation for it. Still, I thought the whole Alien Quadrilogy was really good, Predator (the first one) was good, and I thought the AvP movies were at least decent. Sure, they're not really cannon, and they're by no means perfect, but they're at least decent action movies.

Resurrection was without a doubt the most entertaining of the films, But i can imagine Aliens one and two would be great if everybody didn't already know them by heart.

Aliens 3 is also ok.

I liked Aliens best. It had the right amount of everything. Gore, horror, action, lore.

I remember seeing Aliens when I was 6 years old.

I saw bolt of lighting shaped like a fucking pitchfork outside right as the queen ripped the android(Bishop,if my memory serves me right) in half in the last 15 minutes of the movie.
Needless to say I was scared shitless and triple checked every dark corner of my room before trying to sleep.

Aliens is the only other horror/action movie apart from "The Thing" I watch almost once every year,so it gets my vote.

Pretty much any film/game set in the space-faring age has taken something or other from the Alien series.

My favourite is Aliens.

I don't think the films for AvP did the series justice, especially considering the Graphic Novel and Games have done such a good job.

I think aliens is my favourite too, but its very close.
Apart from with the Alien vs Predator films, which i thought were good, but not revolutionary or inspiring like the others.
aliens was my favorite too.

"GO! GET TO THE CHOPPAH! YOU'VE GOT TO GET OUT OF HERE!"

The movie that made me perfect the "Arnold" voice: Predator.

I'm probably going to be the only one saying I like the AVP films a considerable amount, I can't really choose a winner, but my box set of all these films is definitely one that I'd watch again and again.

It's game over man, GAME OVER!
has to be aliens, i mean how could anyone go past hudson's awesome script hehe

gotta admit that it's pretty cool how the whole AvP thing started because some props guys stuck an alien skull in the trophy room of the predator ship in the second movie (the book was WAY better as well, predator: hot in the city. where the protagonist was actually dutch's brother.)

it's just such a shame that the AvP movies were pretty mediocre.

Let me state this here and now, for all the AVP haters in the crowd...

AVP the movie's suckage is the fault of Paul W. S. Anderson, Dan O'Bannon, and Ronald Shusett.
AvP Prey was a novel by Steve and Stephani Perry, and it was FUCKING AWESOME. But the three urinal stains I mentioned above took Prey and butchered it worse than even Uwe Bole could manage. Having read the novel, I can point out literally hundreds of scenes or plot points that were stolen from Prey. But they twisted and warped it so fucking bad, things which were good in Prey, became tacky or horrific in AvP. They didn't even credit the novel for what they stole, but in the end I bet the two Perry's are glad, because they probably don't want the taint of Anderson's craptacular masterpiece to ill-effect their works.

So I say to you Escapists... If you can find a copy of AvP Prey [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aliens_vs._Predator_(novel_series)], do pick it up. Read it, then go back and suffer through another sitting of AvP to see the true horror of what they had done to such a picturesque Aliens/Predator plot. And if you like Prey, and if you loved Alien/Aliens I'm sure you will, try the two other "official" AvP novels, AvP Hunter's Planet and AvP War. They reveal aspects of Predator culture and Xeno origins that the films never touch on.

Edit: I should mention, AvP Requiem has no ties whatsoever to the AvP novels. That was them literally shoving their hands up their own asses in search of what else they could use. Though for all its faults, AvP-R was better than AvP, and the PredAlien is the true result of a Pred being infested in the Aliens/Predator canon (the xenos come out with traits of the host, the ones we know of as the true "Aliens" are just the human-bred model, Alien 3's version was a canine breed, and there are others). And the PredAlien was a fuckload better than Alien-R's "newborn" slag.
prey? was that the one with machiko in it? or was that war? cant remember. both awesome novels anyway.
doh just read your link. should have checked it first
i managed a few years back to get the dark horse comic version of prey, original print. should be worth a mint one day (i hope)
even have a copy of hunters planet lying around somewhere

Predator.

It had the Governator, Jesse 'The Body' Ventura, Carl 'You Got A Stew Going' Weathers and of course, the inimitable Predator, ALL in one movie. Also, probably the sweatiest film i've ever seen. Everyone is glistening horribly. Especially the guy with the minigun.

My favourite killing machine.

Predator 2 wasn't so bad either. In all fairness, we all learned from Lethal Weapon that Danny Glover is unkillable. And it had a Predator imitating a child's voice. Awe. Some.

I know the oppisite. The aliens cast were asked to read "Starship Troopers" before filming. But I got that from wiki but in the movie it says "Bug Hunt" and "The drop" so I think it is true,
Ontopic: Haven't seen alien but Aliens is a PURE AWESOME movie.

I couldn't agree more. Steve and Stephani Perry write one hell of a book. The AvP series of novels was fan-fucking-tastic.

I think I'm going to re-read them, right now.

Predator 2 is the best of the list I think. Everything they did in Predator 1 they did better in P2. Plus the hero of the movie, wish I could think of his name, is a much better actor than Arnold is. Didn't really like the Alien movies very much.
