Aw, are you kidding? America makes people like you can't find anywhere else in the world! I flat out love those nutters, with their incredible inability to be defined by a single sweeping generalization! Isn't it a shame that every other country in the world is populated by people who all share the exact same opinions on everything, act the same way in every situation, and all look exactly the same? If more countries were like America, the world would be a much more interesting place, I reckon!

Ok, so there are a SHIT LOAD of Americans. I take 'em on a case by case basis. Even if I DO pay out on my seppo mates (but I do that to everyone else, too).

The system is pretty fucked. Spend billions on bombs but fuck all in the way of public health? FAIL.

I get pretty irked about the US's invasive foriegn policy, too. When Bush said "Yer either with us, or again' us." I thought to myself, 'Well, fuck you, then. I'm "again'" you, cockhead cowboy!"

A land where majority think its ok to shoot first and ask questions later, having to be religious(pretend) to be president is just silly. THEY DONT MIX. also allowing mass majorities of people to go poor and starve. Like veterans and afro americans. Pretty much just like their police system as its badass and gets stuff done. Justice system is biased. Some black ppl get 10 yrs for simple shoplifting, racist any1?

The whole religious holier then thou routine. But bombing people left and right and shooting someone at your door is fine. K plz baii.

Also the whole patriotic crazyness. Us is a whelpling of a country in a historical perspective and is people from the whole of europe yet they worship their last 400 yrs like it was the creation of earth LoLzZzzzz.

American Politics have been the same ever since its been founded to all my fellow americans we always yelled at what direction we should go in. They were complaining about the Deficit in FDR's presidency and in Lincoln's term in office trying to lie to your self that we have some how gotten stupid is telling your self a lie we have always complained about the system because we allow mutliple viewpoints in the country. everyone loves it when there viewpoint is elected to power but man do people complain when the other viewpoint is in power. American people are great people they live in a country where there is not "High blood" everyone is the same material items maybe different but they are thrown into the mix. To all the europeans who just love to state there opinion if the USA kept its Isolationist policies Europe today would look very different the fact is we kept the peace after WWII. in the past 70 years violence in the world is down more people are alive sure we made a mistake by proping up dictators because at the time the soviets were a more pressing threat.

America's new slogn should be Every fight is our fight because what happens over there effects over here

I'm from Germany and it may surprise some of you that i never killed a single Jew. No really, i spoke to People who where surprised that i don't blame the Jews for anything. Most of the People who thought that where american but that may have something to do with the fact that half of the People i talk to online are from america.

If you where to assume that something, whatever that may be, that is unique to a Country may color the Psyche of the People living there, you can't assume that any Person might be affected by that. I'll take myself as an Example: A German who doesn't drink Beer and doesn't like Soccer. By the Way, i'm also a Man who doesn't care about Cars much.

I live in a Place that could easily be confused with a junkyard, not all germans like to keep things orderly.
I do like Bratwurst though. And the occassional Rippchen mit Kraut.

So some of the traits German People are infamous for aren't found in me for some Reason. I don't know how that came to be.

I'll assume that there are one or two People in America that aren't stupid loud guncrazy morons who eat Burgers of which every single one has more fat in it then the average Elephant.

By the way, we do have stupid People over here too. You may know this show "American Idol"? We have a knock-off of that. People come to the Castings of those Shows by the thousands.

This is not like some Idiots that don't know where Canada is on the Worldmap as shown in a Video, for which the People who made this probably took a week or so of constantly interviewing many People until they found the one in a thousand who fit the bill.
Or maybe they just gave those People 20 bucks and told them to act really stupid.

No, the Castings for "Deutschland sucht den Superstar" (Germany's version of "American idol") are stormed by thousands of People. The Show itself is watched by millions.

So if American People are stupid, at least they aren't alone.

Aaaahhh, America... The riveted swamps, the beautiful open landscapes, the natural life... All so wonderful.

What, we're talking about the people and politics? Well fuck that, it's disrupting my beautiful view on America!

In all honesty, I've never been there. But from what I can tell from one of my friends who went there as an exchange student...
He got to live with an obese, Christian family who ate more fast-food than anything else. And the entire block wasn't anything different, nor the schools. He told me, more than 50% of the kids there were in fact obese, fat, large, round, pear-shaped teenagers from his own observations.

And that scares me!

So I suppose... I'd respect the people more if they had a greater sense of discipline and self-control.

As for the politicians, they are deuces like every other politician. No huge difference I feel.

Here is my two cents on this.

America; is my home and I love it and I know our system sucks, but for being only about 230 years old we are still a new country as opposed to the countries who have been around for close to 1,000 years old. We are still a brand new country, and our system is no where near perfect, but it?s certainly one of the best systems out there, whether you would like to admit it or not. We still have to tweak and refine our system, and maybe someday it will be a great system but we are still in the process of still building our country.

And even in those 200 years, our country has been through a lot and come out on top; we have a right to be arrogant and such about it. And not all of us are incredibly patriotic. Not everyone runs around screaming "FOR AMERICA" and do things in the name of our country. No; most of us sow our appreciation through the subtle acts of patriotism like our anthem and our beliefs in our country.

Our military is the same. We may be powerful but again we are still getting through this world; we may have one of the strongest forces and many people RELY on our support as the military in a whole. And again this may be opinion of mine but take Israel. We support and help them, through their time of needs when they need it. Sure it may seem odd of us to "stick our nose in someone?s business" but Israel is our ally and now they need our help with Iraq and them; we did the SAME for Britain as well in WW2. When Japan bombed us we immediately went to help Britain. EVEN THEN before the bombing we were running supplies to them; because they asked us for our help.

And its amazing that you guys bash on us when you seem to get all your info from TV. Not all of America is crazy, fat, murderous, redneck, over-patriotic, or stupid. The media is to blame here, as it does to every country showing them in the worst light possible. You cannot make a judgment until you know and have lived in a country for a significant amount of time to make a proper judgment. This is practically impossible to do, simply because of the massive amounts of countries. So stop judging here people; we all still have our flaws.

One thing wrong with the entirety your argument. I ain't defending the Lithuanian people and saying they're (in general) not stupid, ignorant, homophobic, xenophobic and the like. The thread is about US, and frankly, if you want to compare it to other countries, at least compare it to other progressive ones, not some shithole that's been occupied, divided and heavily influenced by others left and right for hundreds of years and has nothing in the ways of economy or influence in the world
You mean the shithole you are from? Even if you look at the other countries on those list the US isn't that far behind. Sorry but Americans aren't as dumb as you seem to think.

I too get agrivated about thinking that if 60% of the population there just ate a normal diet it could probably feed everyone in africa and probably stop the rainforest from becoming a farmforest. Not to mention the massive ammounts of food that gets spoiled and thrown away. As there is alot of Buffets and all you can eat etc. Should really have a law against gluttony, well they are going to die young at any rate. if only they would ban lypo.

I think what he's trying to prove is that he doesn't want the US to do anything except tend to its own fields, and not stick its nose in where its not wanted.

Which is completely and utterly *stupid*.
A: As it has been said, a lot, the US has the largest unified military there *is*. Hell, you know how the UN gets around? They give the US a ring because they have jack shit in terms of actual means of transportation.

If we were the big huge asshole country that wants to go to war at the drop of a hat, why do we host the UN in our own New York? Why are we even *in* the UN? Though really, considering how it sits on its hands and discusses, that's just opening another can of worms.

Personally, I believe he's angry, and has decided that the best way to direct that anger is a pointless insult fest against everyone who he feels is wrong, in some way or another.
He hasn't made this way known yet, aside from ranting and raving about how many people believe what (Hey, guess what. the majority agree with you. The people you're bitching about? They're in the Minority. It even says so on YOUR GRAPH.) He thinks should already be known as the gospel truth.

And hey, its not like we have actual rules about freedom of speech, allowing us to sit here and criticize our own governme- Oh wait, we do.

Lets see, we don't have Germany's refusal to let their adults be treated as adults regarding video games. (Can't fight a human being. Its all robots. See the green blood?)

We don't have Australia's refusal to let their adults do the same. (R18+? whats that?)

No, we have a bill going to the supreme court so they can tell the idiots doing it to shut the hell up and quit wasting taxpayer money.

America is a damn good country. A lot better than the ogre most of the people here seem to want to make it out to be.
Yeah, we've had some stupid moments. Had a few stumbles here and there.

Who hasn't?

Every superpower in history has been judged by the people in charge, not by the people themselves. It is reasonable to dislike the international policy of the United States of America, but illogical make sweeping generalisations of the people. Every state has its bastards and its saints, we're all human.

This poll is inherently skewed. Just because I hate most Americans (especially the ones I see every day in LA, god I hate living here) doesn't mean that I hate them because they're Americans. I hate all people equally.

But I especially hate those who stereotype a people in spite of their own willful ignorance. The ego and prejudice of some people amazes me.

Example: After I spent a month in Tanzania last summer, I was all too eager to return to the US. Unfortunately, there were power outages at the airport, so it took a while to finally board and leave. While waiting in line in the airport I had the misfortune to be standing right next to a group of snobby kids. I ignored their rude conversation as best I could, but I could not help overhear them ask the girl next to me, "Are you American?"

To which she replied something along the lines of, "God no! I HATE Americans. I'm from Canada."

Turns out the snobby kids hated Americans too (big surprise. What really pissed me off was that I found out they were Swiss high schoolers (pre-college whatever the international equivalent is) taking a school-funded vacation to go to the world cup and then go on a safari! And they hated Americans for their decadent lifestyle and undeserved sense of entitlement?! Am I the only one that sees a disconnect here!?

I guess undeserving, entitled assholes are the same the world 'round.

there are several ignorant Americans right here on this thread, so my goal is to help the world just a tiny bit by ridding them of their ignorance, in this case towards their own people and government.
In which case we'll just have to remember to thank you.

It is not America's duty to be an example to the world, nor is it to lead the world. America is broken enough as it is, why do people assume that the US has to fix the rest of the world too?

I don't mean to be rude or call anyone out, but that's how it feels when the world hates you because you cannot possibly live up to their standards for you. NO MORE DOUBLE STANDARDS!

im neutral on the system for the most part and, as an american, i like and dislike the people. there are some americans that are amazing people and some that are complete tools. you cannot lump and entire culture, and entire country into one lump. it would be like me saying (and i dont believe this) that all black people are theives and gangsters and need to be put in jail. i cant make an assumption based on my limited exposure to the group.

i understand that americans look like idiots on tv but if you care to look at the agenda of most tv programs they are to portray absurdities. nobody wants to hear about the american kids who won the spelling be or who contributed to some charity through a car wash, the news networks like to show news reflecting the crazy. you get better ratings for programs with stupid hill-billies than you do of a local scholar and his research into plasma.

so dont think of us americans as some ignorant morons from your news broadcasts or your youtube videos that you watch. we as a species enjoy watching others fail or commit idiotic acts and america, being the entertainment capital of the world, provide such pleasures in abundance. just think of all of the stupid people that have gotten rich for being stupid, you dont see this as an incentive to looking and acting like your a fool? just look at Lary the cable guy, the guy has made millions by acting like a hill-billy fool

Ciortas, citing Michael Moore as a source does not win any points. 1) He has an agenda. 2) He is biased. My suggestion is don't believe everything you read, see, hear in a movie or on TV.

From your profile you're 17 years old, so its understandable that you've taken a liking to Mickey Moore. Focus less on America, more on improving yourself and helping those you care about.

Cheers.

I'm a Dane.
I've never been to America.

I find the "system" appalling.
I find the fact that people support the "rather have people die in the street than pay 10% more taxes and have them see a doctor" to be equally appalling.

Do I hate either one? Not really.
Do I like them? Nope.

I have never met a stereotypically stupid or annoying or jerkass American. Hell, in my experience, Americans are kinder and more polite than than my fellow Canucks. Maybe I've just gotten lucky with the Yanks I've encountered but I don't believe that.
