What's wrong with Computer Games?
They're games. You play them with a computer (not necessarily via a Video Display i.e. television, or even any kind of detailed visual output at all for some of them...). Problem?

Let's rename Basketball "Hooere" whilst we're at it, as you play it with a Hoop and a Sphere.

But hey, thanks for actually trying something new even if it wasn't a good outcome. Millions wouldn't. Persevere.

And as for games taking the flak whenever some kid goes berserk: we just have to wait until another big trend that kids enjoy comes along. Maybe we can fool them by pretending to like some really horrible music that nobody really likes. The point is that grownups know that every time some kid goes berserk that it's a failing on their part, so all the politicians and preachers need to tell the parents that it isn't their fault so the parents keep giving them money.

I work in a school and I can tell you first hand that people don't shoot them up because of video games, its because teachers ask questions like "but WHY doesn't the printer work when it's switched off?".*

Merely changing the name will not change ignorant attitudes to the medium. It occurs to me now that the same people who regard computer games as mere childish toys are probably the same ones telling us that the violent content will warp children's minds.

We need to find something that nobody could possibly like.
I'm thinking something industrial like the Infamous soundtrack but mixed with autotune yodeling, clearly enunciated violent lyrics (also autotuned), and some kind of electronic blue-grass background... and bagpipes thrown in for good measure... y'know, just to make sure nobody likes it.

As long as the kids can pretend to like it, the puritans (as Mencken defined them: people who live under the haunting fear that someone somewhere may be happy) will rise up against that next time some psycho shoots up a school. Then we can just pretend to be appalled at their intrusion on our entertainment.

I came up with the idea a few years ago when that lawyer dbag was really popular for hating GTA.

Nah, I used to say the same thing to feminists since the name has been co-opted by the likes of Pamela Anderson and Sarah Palin, but the name is really superficial. "Interex" just sounds to me like a fad, which would have less respect than something which is being considered less and less a toy by a generation which is now in our 30's and still playing.

I dont think a port word is going to cut it. Besides it goes against our modern trends anyway. This generation is more into acronyms and initialisms. DVDs, MP3s, etc.

Your portmanteau is incredibly...bad. The problem with making a portmanteau like that is that there is no consideration of the etymology of the new word. In this case it literally means "out from within" which to me sounds like...pooping.

The problem is that we haven't really come up with a concise way to describe a gamified simulation program.

My best alternative would just to use the abbreviation of the above phrase: a "GSP". I'm an engineer so I'm admittedly not very good at that kind of thing.

On topic: Firstly, if you make up a new name now, will look like a marketing ploy. A bad one at that. Secondly, it will not be adopted universally, so gamers/Interexers will sound like a bunch of confused idiots.

On the other hand, "video games" is a pretty good term. "Video" and "games" are understood; these words have a meaning in our common language in a way that "Interex"--or anything else you could make up--doesn't. I would struggle to remember what to call video games if you changed their name to some markeding-speak. Nor does the term "video games" drag down the medium: games are not necessarily considered childish (chess, anyone?), nor are videos inherently bad.

If games want to be taken seriously, the solution is not to change their name; it is for people who make and play games to show that they are worthy of being taken seriously.

OT: I don't really think anyone is going to intentionally come up with a replacement name with it. Especially not after spending time trying to come up with it.
