So being the Halo fanboy I am, I decide to take the Ultimate Halo Quiz on IGN. I do horribly, 63 out of 100, and i read the books. But thats not the point, there was a question on there, that surprised me, its the poll question. Now, the strange thing is, I know what each of the answer choices are, and the Covenant falls into each one of them. This is surprisingly difficult for me, and I am no major in politics(even though I will be next year), I only have a year of AP Government under my belt. Do you guys know?

Excellent question, and I find theocracy to be the best answer. It could also fit under oligarchy, but a theocracy seems more accurate.

I wouldn't consider myself a Halo fanboy but I have often enjoyed the mythos of the Halo Universe.

Yes, but technically the prophets have controll, which make them a specific group, which makes it a oligarchy.

Or, it could be a Ethnocracy(not sure if real) because it is based on a caste system

You pretty much posted my thought process. That is quite the question. I'm leaning towards oligarchy...

Theocracy, totally. It is ruled by religion. I'm guessing that ethnocracy means rule by one race, but it is made up of many different species; not just Prophets, but Elites and Brutes are in charge. Also can't be an oligarchy, because in the third game there is only one High Prophet. That's a dictatorship.

Actually, being a Halo nerd myself, (I admin a fanfic site, actually, haha) I would have to say it's an oligarchy. If you read the books, you realize that none of the Prophets actually believe in the religion, they just abuse it to keep control of the more powerful races. It's a rule by the few, as even the most low-caste Prophet outranks any other species, but it's also rule by a certain race, so it would be a theocracy-turned-ethnocentric-oligarchy.
Annnndd...

I fail to see how people would hate you for this question really... But whatever.

OT: Theocracy. The Prophets are the highest ranking race and they're the religious leaders. All of the choices could be correct if you argue them enough really, but Theocracy seems the most correct. They're taking action based on religion, the lower species all take orders from the religious prophets, etc.

They could well be a cross of everything, seeing as their society has a collection of racial, religious and highly elite branches to it.

I'd say a cross between the Theocracy because the religious subtext is held up so high in their society and seems to dominate every other important asset of their culture, and also Ethnocracy because there are some very obvious examples of racial favouritism in their culture though it's sort of a reverse because typically Ethnocracy involves discrimination of the one with the lowest population when in reality the leaders are actually the race with the smallest population which leads to Obligrachy. Also given that every race has a specific duty to fullfill and are expected to do it, Technocracy fits in as well.

Basically I have to give them a little bit of everything. Great question by the way.

I think its funny how each of you go ahead and say its a multitude of systems, when there was only one available answer choice.....
