As many of you may already know, we Australians don't have an adult rating for video games. Many games have therefore been refused classification and banned. Some have been re-submitted to achieve an MA15+ classification, but it pushes back the release date a few months or so, and sometimes makes the game less fun (Let's admit it, gore is good.)
What some Australian politicians don't seem to see is: It's damaging the economy. People are buying the uncensored versions overseas, seeing as they can't get them here. I can see that excessive violence and gore can be a bit unsettling for some people, but so is playing cheerful kiddy games, and even violent games with shitty rendering because it's a last-minute re-submitted version.
I know this probably won't change the classification system, but I want to know what you guys think. If you think I'm blowing this out of proportion, just look at this list: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_banned_video_games#Australia then judge.
