Which was... basically at the beginning, really. At least, if you watch the anime.aegix drakan said:Light was in the right up until he started seeing himself as the god of the world.
I think it was mentioned in one of those footnotes before they cut to commercials that the notebook never runs out of paper. Don't ask me how. I guess that's why the issue was never addressed in the show if I recall.Aethren said:That notebook would've ran out of paper eventually, wonder what would've happened then.
So it's a crime to get a black notebook and write the words "Death Note" on the cover in white letters, and then write down the names of people you don't like in it? Because you know it's not going to actually DO anything. ¬_¬madwarper said:I just wanted to point out fact that there have been at least 3 reported cases of students being suspended/expelled from schools for having Death Notes.
Wow. Just wow.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deathnote#Copycat_crimes_and_imitations
A senior at the Franklin Military Academy in Richmond, Virginia, United States was suspended after being caught possessing a replica "Death Note" notebook with the names of fellow students.
In South Carolina, U.S. in 2008, school officials seized a "Death Note" notebook from a Hartsville Middle School student. District officials linked the notebook to the anime/manga. The notebook listed seven students' names. The school planned a disciplinary hearing and contacted the seven students' parents.
In Gadsden, Alabama, U.S. two sixth grade boys were arrested for possessions of "Death Notes" that listed names of several staff members and fellow students. According to Etowah County Sheriff's Department Sgt. Lanny Handy, the notebook was found the previous afternoon by a staffer. The students were suspended from the county's schools. The students, their parents, and school officials had met with Handy and a junior probation officer.
In Gig Harbor, Washington, U.S. one middle school student was expelled and three were suspended on May 14, 2008 for having their own "Death Note" books.

Well, here's a page of the manga.Shamanic Enzan said:Those who use the deathnote are doomed to suffer a painful death and afterlife, I believe it was written on the front cover of the book OR mentioned by RyukSaltyk said:Wasn't it pretty much stated in the series that the reason a person that wrote in the Death Note couldn't go to Heaven was because there was no such place?VanTesla said:The fact how he went about killing Raye Penbar and Naomi Misora, shows how truly a monster he has become. Note that I'm not trying to troll or get involved in a discussion about Heaven/Hell/religion/atheism, but just stating a fact about the series. So keep in mind that we're talking about the world of Death Note. A world where someone can write a person's name in a little black notebook and that person will die exactly as it was written in the book.
Cop killing doesn't bug you? It seems particulary hypocritical of light, the son of a police officer, to be able to kill cops left and right like he does. Or to Tolerate Misa doing it, for that matter. He even becomes a police officer later on, but apparently doesn't mind fraticide as long as it benefits him.J4RD said:Light was committing murder, sure, but it seemed that L was trying to catch him solely based on the fact that he's breaking the law, without looking at the morality of his actions.

It's the same as claiming that the sacrifice of the few for the many is acceptable.sravankb said:As the risk of getting dangerously close to Godwin's law here, is it possible to compare Light's actions with the Hiroshima/Nagasaki incident? Yeah, he was killing innocent people, but if those people exposed his identity, he would not remain in power, and that means that more innocent people die as a result.
Does this comparison seem fair to you guys?
Yeah, but if these kids are running around with imitation Death Notes I find it far more likely that they're just living in fantasy.Shamanic Enzan said:Could have been turned into a hit list. Crazy and stupid.
You have one fundamental flaw here.sravankb said:-snip-
Essentially, yeah.
It just seems ludicrous to me that there's a crapload of games / movies out there where they constantly keep telling us that killing even "a single innocent man to save many" is wrong, and yet the Hiroshima incident is popularly defended. It was a ridiculous war crime and there's no way someone can justify it to me.
L believed that Kira/Light was wrong and he was right.Abandon4093 said:Snip
