Naruto and Bleach threads. Hoo-ray.

I hope I got the sarcasm through, I really do.

I'm all for the idea - if my opinion really mattered - but those two are the the main threads that will be up and run through in my experience, so perhaps a change of name if the forum is created might suffice.

No, I'm serious, all the other threads just sink to the bottom with no one really caring about the show aside from you.

While I don't think I'd go on it very often I think its a great idea.
Firstly, there are thousands of anime fans on the Escapist and an official place to discuss it would be very good both for organizational purposes and a general increase in the quality of the content regarding it. Think about it, people post thread that just say things like "What is your favorite anime" and while I think those would still be present (as the "favorite/best game" threads still are present in Gaming Discussion) I think that the fact that it has an entire forum would start some more interesting and in depth discussions on the subject.

Great idea, xitel. I hope it goes through for you.

Well although I'm a pretty big Bleach fan I can safely say that most of the Escapist anime community have moved on from this and are into wider spectrum of anime. And you can't keep a topic going without posts.

To be fair, that only happens if you let it. If there's a fair number of actual anime fans posting that bring up the really interesting animes like Higurashi no Naku Koro Ni, then the content of the forum will tend to match the content being put into it.

I'd use it for recommendations since I'm running out of shows that keep my attention past the first few episodes.

I would post irregularly. There's a lot of anime I like, but the generally extreme attitudes of many anime fans ('X is awesome/sucks ass') leads to me thinking it's best not to concentrate all that into a single forum. While a sub-forum would be useful in keeping out many non-anime fans (except in the case of trolling), I think the attitudes towards many different series would lead to many flame-wars. I mean, what would become of a long running Naruto thread?

I don't think it's a large enough part of gaming culture to warrant it's own discussion topic on the site, and I'm not sure it would be beneficial when it has been assimilated into the Off Topic section well enough. I understand the appeal of the idea, given the high activity of Off Topic, anime threads can be swiftly submerged, especially when dealing with less popular series and films.

As I said, I'd use it occasionally, but I'd probably just get in a lot of unpleasant arguments discussing anime's conventions, usually poor plotting and tendency towards immaturity. The idea has its merits, but I just don't feel there are enough.

You could just make a media thread not just for anime but also include movies, books and the like. Whenever a new movie comes out usually someone posts about it so it would have a section to go in besides off-topic.

Just because this is sticky'd and has a poll DOES NOT mean this will happen. I am however very interested, thus the sticky.

I, personally, think that if we get a new forum or sub-forum, it would be best used splitting Forum Games & RP into Forum Games, and RP.
That said, I would look around in an Anime forum, and find some worth watching.

Anime in itself is a bit limited. If it was J-media in general, such as manga and music, why not?

Interested means a sticky? Is that good interest or bad interest?

If we get an anime board, then we should also get an apocalypse board. There are tons of threads about zombie invasion/nuclear holocaust/natural disasters etc.

I'd say it is a good interest.

I wouldnt use it but Im all for it. If nothing else it would keep all of the cartoon nut hugging away from the general discussion area and out of my sight.

While we're at it lets get a halo forum and religion forum up and running and hide most of the trash threads away in a dark corner.

No... no I don't know... but yes, it would promote some good discussion. And if it meant that he people saying "cartoons are stoopid" would stay out of it, it would mean a distinct lack of flame wars.
