Yes, it's another thread by me, MasterOfWorlds. This time it's, "Do you and your significan't other have pet names for each other?"

There's a convenient poll to be answered, and please feel free to share your stories, or pet names with us. As for me and my gf, we don't really like pet names, so we don't really have them for each other. It's been that way for pretty much all my gfs, although I do call her my "Darling dearest" and things like that on occasion, but it's not really a pet name. XD

OK, for some reason the poll didn't show up. Well, just answer the question and state whether you're male, female, and if your bf/gf has a pet name or a pet name for you. Thanks.

Hmmm... nope. We don't have pet names for each other.
Maybe that should be surprising to me...
I'll have to ask myself about it. But so far, as far as I know, we just call each other by name.

Not really; I call my ex 'whore', '*****' and 'Galactus'.

I do, however, use pet names on my friends, with responses of anything from amusement to confusion to flirty. Usually I call people 'pet' or 'hon.'

Offtopic, TOOK YOU LONG ENOUGH!?!?!?!
Sorry, I've been disregarding threads for the MLP group I'm in. XD

...Sadly, I wish I was joking. It's addictive. Never watch it unless you want to become part of the herd...because you will.

On another, more serious note, I've had a hard time coming up with thread ideas and titles because I've covered a lot of stuff. I might just take to numbering the damned things. XD

I've never had a significant other but if I did I would assume that I'd call her Snugglebum.

Depends how long it last.

Above 6 months and its likely, but that is only if i cared enough that lapse to write a lot of poetry and find a really special pet name that she loves. Has happened only once before, but i have a good feeling about a girl i just met.

Share em here? LIKE CRAP!

Welcome to the herd. You'll like it here. We have love and tolerance...oh, and cupcakes. XD

If you don't smile or laugh when you watch it, I'm pretty sure you're a monster. It's not about being manly, it's just a genuinely good show, which really surprised me. I had the same goal as you, but look at me now. At least I don't have an MLP avatar. XD

yeah if you mistake any of my responses to you calling me pet names for any of those you're sadly mistaken luv.

OT: I use pet names for everyone. For people I care about they usually get nicknames(and Mack sweetheart, calling you kitty isn't really a nickname). I was raised mostly by my grandmother who was from the south(I believe she was from Georgia in the states) so calling people sweetheart darlin dear etc is normal speech from me(and I swear Mack you make the joke I think you're going to make....). I nickname my cars. Not my sig. others. Unless its something that really works. I still go by Pirate which is the nickname my last ex gave for me. And he still goes by Ninja. I more give people nicknames and such when I don't like them. And I am female.

That is an evil evil show. And I don't understand the appeal anymore. I understand it fine for young'ns but not adults.

I only shared pet names with one of my girlfriends, and hers was 'Kore' (pronounced 'kohr-ray', from Greek mythology), which was tragic, but strangely fitting to say the least. She called me 'Erebos' in return, which was also strangely fitting.

I wouldn't say it's evil. I actually quite enjoyed it, although I may never watch it again. It made me laugh, and smile, and generally was more uplifting than most of the crap you see nowadays. There's also quite a bit of adult humor hidden in there by the creator for the express purpose of adults being able to watch it alongside their kids.

That, and the fanbase is also pretty cool to talk to. I know that I get along really well with the people in the group here on the Escapist.

It's just much better than you'd expect such a show to be, and it reminded me of a simpler time. It also spoke to the little bitty part of me that still wishes that the world was nothing but candy and rainbows. Sometimes it's nice to have something positive to see occasionally.

That, and the memes that have come from it make me lol. XD

Hmm...I've studied some Greek and Roman mythology, and I can't say that I'm familiar with either of those names. Do they have a Roman counterpart that I might be more familiar with than the Greek naming?

'Kore' was Persephone's name before she became the Queen of the Underworld, while 'Erebos' (I don't think he has a Roman equivalent) is alternately the personification of darkness and the primordial god of twilight (i.e. the period of the day when day turns to night, neither fully light, nor fully dark, usually taken as an allegory for the transition from life to death).

I've never heard of Erebos, but Persephone I'm familiar with. See, you never know where you might learn something. XD

Glad to have imparted some knowledge. I considered just calling her 'Persephone' but it felt too long a 'pet name', for all it is a beautiful sounding name, and 'Kore' seemed to have more a ring of tragedy about it... And in return, she wanted to call me 'Phobos', quite why, I haven't the faintest idea...

Wasn't Phobos one of Mars/Aries' warhorses? Maybe you're hung like a horse? XD

I would but then I watched it as a child. I can't watch it anymore. nostalgia kills it. And most of the fanbase I have tried talking to can't seem to talk about anything else other than MLP for more than 3 seconds so.....We all have our reasons for watching/not watching it

Eep... (sorry, 'eep' is what I say instead of 'yep' much of the time). He was Ares' son and attendant and the personification of horror. I'd honestly be rather irked if someone called me Phobos with reference to this...

Why? I'd think that was cool if someone called me Phobos with reference to that. In fact I would be flattered.

Why? Because 'Deimos' is so much cooler a name. Besides, 'personification of terror' has a better impact to it. SCREAM, YOU SONS OF BITCHES, SCREAM!!
