Cheaters, we see them all the time. They ruin the fun of playing against other people online. Maybe they gave themselves unlimited ammo, or God mode, aimbots, or flight. When it got out of head, developers had to create ways to try to stop them. Maybe they assign moderators to check or make it really difficult to cheat. However innocent people are often blamed and get kicked off the server, or worse banned.
Probably the most well known is Punkbuster, which tries to stop them. However many times things go under the radar, usually aimbots but those are difficult to find out. But it has its flaws, usually removing players because of some extremely contrived reason to do so. My question is in the poll, do they actually prohibit cheating?

Also, if I'm missing any real options in the poll, could you be an extremely awesome person and tell me so I can add them.

Punkbuster usually kicks people because one of the handshake.exes isn't working, usually A loads up but B doesn't.
So you don't get to stay on the server.

Anyway, they do work somewhat but the hack software is like any other that it recieves updates and patches.
So people can slip through the net time after time, it's just a case of who's leap frogging who at the time.

It also kicks me off for no reason.

I bitched at PunkBuster about it and they said that one of my legal programs were causing the problems. I was very annoyed as I really liked the add-on it gave me to Vista Desktop. Everybody commented on how cool my desktop was.

I had to get rid of it just so I could play online.

Fucking wankers.
Yeah unfortunately third party programmes aren't forced to be compitable with everything else, if they where it would an incredibly tall order.
As long as they work with OS's and most other things, then fine but cheat systems are incredibly fiddly.

They'll often detect add ons as malicious programmes for the chosen software they are to defend, they do their job but it's at a cost.
