APB mainly feels like a step back from me, although at least EA will stop remaking five games constantly every year and focus more on this one.

It's basically a sandbox MMO concerning street violence and gangs, and while the trailers are impressive, I doubt it's going to be any good.

MMO's generally need a HUGE time commitment, and dicking around in a very big city(resembling saint's row a bit suspiciously) is going to get boring after a while.

Besides the co-op function in saint's row was a lot of fun, and APB just seems like a never-ending reminder of it.

So, what do you think?

Based on my time during the numerous beta weekends and the sneak preview thing they did, it's a really amazing concept that's not executed very well. The way it does missions is really brilliant but there is no variety and there are only two maps, which are really small by sandbox standards.

The customization, though, is incredible, and I'd buy the editors just to play around with if they offered them separately at a reasonable price.

It looks alright, but I don't plan on buying it.
The only MMO's I'm willing to pay for is WoW (Maybe), and TOR.

It's going to fail so hard, Aion will look like a winner.

Besides, the game IS average. 59% on Metacritics is really crappy for a new game.

Well first off the amount of customization blows away any other game iv seen by a fairly large margin. I havnt played it personally but as a game it actually looks like it was a really good concept that could be very fun. I mean how often have we just ran around in gta or other similar games and just blown shit up, hell thats pretty much all you do in crackdown. If it wasnt pc only i would actually consider buying the game.
Being given a mission to go steal a van and having players on the other side then get a mission telling them that you are stealing their van and must be stopped is really amazing the first few times you experience it. The problem with APB is you'll be stealing a LOT of vans or reclaiming vans that someone else has stolen. There is very little variety and the maps are too small for genuine sandbox fun.

So what your saying is that they have a good concept but they need alot more variety to make it have a lasting appeal?

In the end I guess it doesnt matter since I dont see it coming to consoles any time soon and im far to cheap to be a pc gamer.
They have a fabulous concept that is let down by lack of variety in mission types and maps. Two fairly small maps just doesn't cut it in a game like this.

I really do hope this game doesn't just vanish out of memory, since the way it does missions is truly brilliant.
