Super Mario Galaxy is shitte compared to the original Super Mario 64. And i am not just saying that because i have fond memories of that game, if you wanted me to i could list all sorts of reasons why Super Mario 64 is better on almost every level.

I would say that 64 was better, but after the 2nd or 3d play through, there is no more challenge left and with a free day you could blast through the game with all 120 stars before it's time for dinner, which I have done several times.

As a gaming experience, Galaxy beats it out in every direction, but 64 has more replay value despite being inferior, and I fucking love Super Mario 64.

The Wii single-handedly destroyed console gaming for me. Now Microsoft and Sony are also jumping onto the motion control bandwagon. I want to play games, not flail around like a lunatic.

Plus, every time I've used the Wii, the detection just sucks. I have to swing my arm around until the pointer is on the screen, and the balance board is probably one of the least responsive peripherals ever.

Edit: Your poll is constructed poorly. The thread title asks if gamers are too harsh, and then the poll asks if Nintendo deserves the hard time. I voted no to the thread title. Way to confuse.

Wow, my basic take on the Wii is this: it has a certain target market, the more casual and party type gamers. If you're not in that market, why are you complaining about the console anyway? Some sort of nostalgic entitlement? "Nintendo made the games I was raised with. Why don't they cater to me still?" Well, Mr. Whiny-pants, probably because you've moved on to things like GTA, Modern Warfare 2, etc. and Nintendo isn't trying to capture that demographic. It's not a personal insult to you, so get over it.

I may be slightly annoyed that we haven't seen a new 3D Kirby game since K64, and there hasn't been a new one since Super Star Ultra, as Kirby probably is my favorite series, and there my not have been a fun Donkey Kong game since the Super Nintendo... Anyway, I'm off...
Yes, it may not have the best third party support, but the good ones are fun, I'm having a blast with NiGHTS even though I know it's a few years old, i just haven't gotten around to finishing it.
And this year looks really good for third parties, and maybe even some first party stuff.
And I would KILL for Kirby Wii.

See, as long as you enjoy your gaming, who cares what system you're using? I've never understood this whole "Nintendo is for casual gamers" argument. It doesn't have any games I'm very interested in, but then one has to consider that I only game irregularly these days since I'm in college, married, and working, which means I don't really have a ton of time to sit down with anything. When I do sit down to play, I like to play Guitar Hero, shoot things, play fighting games (like DOA and Soul Calibur), or stuff like Jak and Daxter and Ratchet and Clank. None of those things are really worth getting on the Wii if they're available since I've already got them.

Nintendo itself does an amazing job in making games. The third party developers for nintendo suck...A LOT. There are some of the worst games ever made on the Wii, and i continue to see the same generic "Party games" come out that have 4-10 lame, crappy mini games that come together in a pile of shit. So I love Nintendo but hate the Wii due to it's degrading of gaming from it's past to old people and family's playing it.
