Poll: Are gamers hated?

I've been reading alot of threads recently about how gamers are despised and hated to the point of exhaustion, and that most people view us as wierd slimey nerds who eat pizza and play WoW 24/7.
But, in real life I have never met someone who actively hated video games, and almost if not all people I have ever met were okay with them or even played them themselves (It's almost like, -gasp- Gaming is an actually popular hobby!). For instance most of my school plays MW2, and I play with them actively, yet we're all normal and functioning people. We play because it's like an interactive story that you get to watch and do yourself. Not because we're some freaky wierdoes and killing pixelated people get us off(Like some politicans believe. Though we certainly are scarier then bikers, right? Right?)
So I have to ask for your opinions escapists:
Are gamers hated/Despised? And if so give us a real life example of what someone said/did that made it seem like they hated video games with a fiery passion of the sun. Or a lesser planet, either works.(Besides Micheal Atkinson or any other politician who has their head up their ass.) And people saying things online doesn't count, since I follow the active advice a wise australian man once said:
Internet+Regular person=Fucktard.

I can't remember ever meeting someone in real life who hates gamers, or thinks they are weird.
Oh, I have met people who say I am weird. Heh, just a few hours ago to be precise on the last time.
I don't think gamers are hated. I think idiot politicians hate gamers. Because they fear us

Are gamers hated... no. My best friends dont even play video games so they're the worst i've come across, yet they're still my best friends. They dont even hate the fact that i play games, its just something i do.

Are gamers bullied though? Yes, i think some of our geekier, socially awkward friends are. Thats not because they're gamers and moreso because they're weird. Thats ok though, many of my friends are that way but my school (it was public) never had any issues. I was friends with people in every clique and most of the people in my school were the same. On the mainland though i think its a different culture. Hawaii's all about Ohana, so we follow the rules of E.L.E. Everybody Love Everybody.

Heck, some of the geekist guys i knew in highschool were the drug dealers/badasses. Really a strange place Hawaii.

I tend not to care about idiot's opinions of me or what I am "categorized" as. I have no qualm with any one group (except the Dutch) and I don't treat anyone differently because they fall under some category.

I cant actualy say they hate gamers in general so I said no...BUT(!)every1 seems to hate me at my school because I am mostly anti-social because I find most people annoying and I am always myself to the point that I say everything I think about something and I think people get affended by that because I dont want to be part of "the crowd."
Edit:And also because I dont care what people think of me so I usualy wear clothes that are "ugly"(?) when I wear them because I think they are kool shirts and because they are comfertable.

I don't know anyone in real life that absolutely hates video games.

plus during football in High school, which i'm still in; I found out that more then half the players played video games whenever they could. lol They don't look like the gaming type, so I would never have guessed.

You're talking about politicians or people that try to make political statements in the media.

I don't think I've met someone that properly hates games. I'm the only serious gamer among my friends and they don't judge me on how I spend my free time when I'm not drinking with them. Although I do sometimes piss them off by making obscure game references that they don't understand.

The uninformed masses do seem to see us as sweaty, overweight geeks with no social skills but that opinion is just that, uninformed!
