Games are relaxing to me, I find it hard to get immersed so instead I just chill out. Although playing an online game is not so good in helping you relax, cheap kills, Etc.

I found Braid really quite relaxing, yet still challenging, there is potential for relaxing games, but I think there place is in short downloadable chunks. There was also that flower game for PSN i heard that was very chilled out yet beautiful at the same time
idk some games are relaxing in the way you'd expect like flower, or you could play something like god of war, that'd relax me but only if your in the right mindset. or someone could gta and go on a rampage. thats also kinda relaxing. but not all games would be. i doubt halo would be that relaxing, or killzone or cod, or any fps really.
Playing games are always relaxing. My favourites involve beating the crap out of everything. It's a good way to take out the anger that's built up during the days or weeks.
I find it one of the best outlets for anger. That, or going out into the garden and taking an axe to a tree that needs to be removed.

As said before, it all depends on the game. But it also depends on personal taste. I for one get very stressed out from playing racing games, while a friend of mine relaxes when he can drive an expensive, if virtual, car with 250+ KM/h.
I like to mine planets in Mass Effect 2 to relax, play L4D2 on easy to cope with stress or just run around the rooftops in AC/AC2. It all depends on the mood.

Start up L4D/L4D2, start a campaign on Easy, grab a pump-action shotgun, turn on Don't Stop Me Now from Queen and you'll feel the stress flow off you.Silvrye said:
Depends a lot on the game. Sports game either fun or frustrating depending on if you are winning or getting hammered by a friend. I'd say most games (I play) are not relaxing for most of the time. Counter-Strike is one sure to usually be one of the less relaxing games. So is DA:O especially in battles, because of the difficulty. But basically in every game there is a point where you feel relaxed. And it's not as much of a question of is it relaxing by the time you play it or only afterwards.

A few levels of Braid really levels out my heart rate. The soundtrack and the logical solutions. It's beautiful.
I forgot to add, while playing the Heavy Rain demo it caught hold of the emotional side of my brain and yanked it to whatever it wanted me to feel. Calm, suspense, curiosity . I felt em all in the duration of that demo. Marvellous.

I keep hearing that challenging games can't be relaxing, which I find to be the opposite of true.
A good example would be demon's soul's, where after an hour or two (or more) you finally beat
the boss and finish the level the effective is entirely gratifying and ultimately relaxing.
I would say though that the majority of games are relaxing, even though most games today don't
necessarily give off that feeling, which is kind of depressing, if you've played through any of
some of the delightfully colored games from the nineties you should know what I'm talking about.

Most games I play are very fast paced and manic so they are not what I would call relaxing. Having said that, there are a lot of games that do have a very chill theme to them. For example, I played Flower on PSN and it has got to be the most calming experience of my life. No scores, no enemies, no time limits, you can just do what ever you want with out a trouble in the world. Absolute bliss.
The only two games I think I'd describe as relaxing are flow and flower, I find games are more of an escape than a relaxant.
i would say, while im playing, hell no i am not relaxed, my brain is constantly doing the strategy over and over and what not and i tend to be immersed greatly anyways so i tend to feel the emotion/mentality of the game, but after the game usually i can get pretty damn relaxed
Sometimes comparatively; I mean if you came out of a heated argument with someone, and then play a casual game of TF2 with some friends, it's relaxing. Generally, if I'm told that the poison in my bloodstream can only be relieved by slowing my heart rate, I wouldn't turn to a video game though.
Depends alot on the game choice, if it were mine, no.
Online shooters is certainly not for the stressed...neither is Splosion man despite how much fun it is to explode everything.
