I have watched the catholic religion closely, and ever since pope benedicit took over the papacy the church has fallen into middle age idea's again.I can't help but feel disgust at the blatant homophobia and anti-family planning which is slightly out of date in the 21st century.
OK, just to point out Pope Benedict the 16th was Pope John Paul the 2nd's "enforcer". Meaning that everything Pope Benedict did as Archbishop was autorized by Pope John Paul.
Also, "anti-family planning" is a major misnomer. The Catholics are in favor of Family Planning, they call it "Do not have sex until you want children". I may
disagree on the Churches stance on condoms (babies are not alive until the lifeblood starts to flow). But I fully support their stance on Abortion, I support the rights of unborn women. As well as, grown womens right to choose not to have sex.
I think it's time the world took a stand and made these 'men of god' realise they have no place of power in todays society (it does'nt help that the catholic church is possibly the most corrupt in the world). How many more deaths and horror's will be carried out in the name of 'god' by the major churches of the world?
Ya, because Anti-Theists (note I did not say Atheist) have been so innocent. The crimes committed by Communist Russia, the Nazis, Chairman Mao, the list goes on are comparable to those things the Church did
400 years ago (let the past sins of people who died hundreds of years ago be gone). The Vatican does have its Demons (both literal and metaphorical) but the Catholic leadership is no more corrupt than the US government (I know, not a glowing statement, (
I sigh, sadly)).
As for the Child abuse scandal, I agree the Catholics could have handled it a lot better then they did. I would have transferred the bad priests to a monastery in the Antarctic.
So I still think catholics should be able to exist, but the pope should be taken down and left forever, as most catholics I know don't like him either. And possibly following that, the church of Islam would follow as allthough most muslims are not bad people the values the religion teaches are out of date in a modern world.
I disagree again, is it their values are behind the rest of the world; or is the rest of the world, behind religion, on values. Who are you to tell me that my values are wrong. The only one capable of that is my God and while He is not happy with the current state of the various Churches, He said that they are not the worst point He has seen them "Yet". I believe homosexuality is a sin, but I do not hate or fear them. I love them like I love all mankind. I believe abortion is murder, but I still show compassion to those who have gotten them, and help them to recover (It is, in my experience, unusual to meet a woman who has not regretted getting an abortion). I have been taught to love my opponent (I dislike the word enemy) as my self. Showing all humanity love is showing them God.
Also allowing Catholic to exist without a Pope, would be like allowing a military to operate without a chain-of-command or Generals. It would fall apart and be destroyed. There is no Church without the Pope.
DISCLAIMER: I am not Catholic, but I do respect them. For all of their faults they still try to do their best. I say nothing here in hate, anger, or any other "negative" emotion. May peace be with you.
