I definitely prefer cats. They're less needy, less loud (usually), less obnoxious, less stinky, and generally easier to take care of. They cuddle, but they don't need constant attention. Dogs are stupid, slobbery, stinky, loud messes that you have to stop and give a personal escort to every time it needs to pee or poop. A dog is like a two year old that never grows up, whereas a cat is like an aloof teenager that only comes down to eat and participate in socialization purely at its own discretion.

The only problem is I'm at a bit of an impasse with my boyfriend. He doesn't live with me, but he's allergic to cats so if I get one him visiting me will become a problem (and if we do end up living together, that's also a problem). So I've decided I can tolerate a dog, but only a big one. And when I say big, I mean an Irish Wolfhound. I feel like the smaller a dog is the more stupid it is, so I want a giant dog to avoid that. And I specifically want an Irish Wolfhound because from what I read, they're a generally quiet and loyal breed that doesn't require as strict of training as a Husky or a Great Pyrenees, but still fairly large, intelligent, and friendly.

Gotta vote for cats. Although I enjoy dogs, cats know how to CALM DOWN when someone comes to the door. I like that relaxed style. That, and they're adorable. Puppies are too, but I can't resist an adorable kitten... :3

Oh yes, cats.
Mainly because I took in an adorable stray as a teenager.
I like dogs too, just not as much as cats.

Cat person. I've never met a cat I didn't get along with (although I'm sure some exist, somewhere). I have met many dogs who take offense to my general presence, and I'm not entirely certain why. That, and two of my neighbors have had, at one time or another, EXTREMELY yappy, ultra territorial dogs the drove me nuts (and a third who had a larger breed who literally chased me for having the gall to be on the other side of the street as it). I never took any action against them, but I shed no tears when they finally stopped (not sure if the people moved or the dogs died or what).

I find it's mostly the small dogs I dislike. Some of the larger breeds get along well enough with me, and I'm very partial to huskies. Cats tend to like me more though, and they're much less hassle to feed and care for.
