Gambling is fun, but "controlled gambling" if you will.
I go to the casino maybe once a month and win more than I lose (and always win larger than I lose). Hell it's fun to get drunk and come home with your wallet packed with notes. I bought a really nice watch the day after once, but mostly I save the money.
By controlled gambling though, I meant playing the stockmarket. Sure there is alot of chance involved, but you can still make informed decisions and come out on top, if there isnt a sudden financial crisis.... Gambling on the stockmarket paid for me to spend 2 months in Europe (and I was only 18 at the time mwahha).
In everyday situations, I often just take the unknown path to mix things up. More often than not it ends inconveniently, but then every once in a while you get a nice surprise. And I don't mind making a bad decision because I learn from it. By every day gambling I mean anything from impulsively cutting into the backcountry snowboarding (horrible idea, but often the best time ever) with no rescue beacon, or randomly getting drunk to see where I end up, or-as I did last year- bailing to another country with barely any money, no job or anywhere to stay and seeing what happens (worked out well).
