Who else is like me in that in a game (mostly RPGs) you are too afraid of using your potions or spending your money or using your tactical nuke in a game just in case you need it for later? Then you get 90% through the game with about 1000 tactical nukes (by nuke I mean your FUCK THIS SHIT attack) all stocked up in your inventory just in case there is a boss battle next. Or you collect everything and search every corner just in case there is more of the items that may or may not exist for an event that may or may not happen

Why do you think you do this

For added fun put the internal dilemma you have with yourself

Me: Surrounded by enemies and low on health should I just use my big gun?
Other me: NO GOOD SIR! YOU MUST RESERVE YOUR RESOURCES UPON THE COINCIDENCE THAT THIS IS A LEAD UP TO A BIGGER WAR! YOU MUST FIGHT WITH WHAT YOU HAVE!!!
Me: But what if there isn't anything after this, anyway I have 20 of these things!
Other me: Are you a fool boy?! You only have 20?! That is nothing! You must save these for the non-existent boss we are to face!
Me: ....That makes perfect sense

-Cue hours of me trying to kill umpteen thousand enemies without using any of the good stuff-

It's been at the point where I've needed to have two enchanted items of apparel and a spell while having 90+ strength just to keep moving on Oblivion just because I didn't want to use my stuff in case I needed it later.

I'm a major hoarder

In games with special, unique items; I like to try and save these and collect them because of their specialness. For example, in Fallout 3, there are special versions of weapons with special names and I try to collect all of those and then save them in a storage chest. I don't know why I do this but I do.

This happens to me more in the case of FPSs than RPGs. I always settle down with the crapy sidearm that every enemy drops bullets for -.-

Yeah, this is like a huge problem for me in anything.
I run around using like pea shooters and/or never using items unless it is that or death. Sometimes not even then. I am always saving it for some impossible boss, and even when said impossible boss comes around I save it in case an even bigger and even more impossible boss is waiting right behind him.

Also, I have this bizarre compulsion to search every corner and find every single bit of treasure. I get twitchy when my inventory is full and I can't pick up any more useless crap.

On the plus side, by the end of the game I am rolling in so much fucking cash I don't even know what to do with it. I'm not going to spend it or anything but if I needed to it would totally be there.

I *try* and be a hoarder but as I'm really bad at such games I end up using the last health potion, ignoring the nagging voice in the back of my head telling me not to. Of course, the nagging voice is only right when I ignore it. And then I have to limp back ten minutes to the last rest shrine stopping every now and then as my hit points go momentarily negative thanks to a ghoul curse *mumble mumble this has happened twice now grrr*

I've been playing hardcore on New Vegas, and it's so hard for me to choose what ammo I want to keep, and the kind of ammo I need to store or sell. 100 pounds I'm carrying is just water and other foodstuffs, and I'm constantly returning to my house and loading it down with stuff.

Me, to Myself: "Why would I use a valuable Fatman shot on a Super Mutant Behemoth when I could just use a mess of bottlecap mines?"

-___-

Yes, in RPGs I end up with the "in anticipation" surplus.

In Final Fantasy I always save up on my Megalixirs and level grind so I can preserve MP for the boss. I never used those Megalixirs, even in the last boss battle, and I only needed about 1/3 of that MP.

I rarely spend my money in Dragon Quest because I know the equipment will be outdated by the next town.

I don't hoard resources so much, but I do find it hard to drop a potentially valuable item that I could sell later on (even if there's no chance of me using it).

I'm playing through Borderlands right now, and it's so hard to drop weapons... I just have to rescue as many Claptraps as possible to get more space to hold things.

I used to hoard... boy was I disappointed when I was saving the "nukes" only for the game to end before the super hard "nuke" worthy boss...

Now I'm much more like... "Fuck the boss, I'm nuking a dozen dozens of these noobs"

Borderlands is the worst! They give you an entire fuckload (that is 18 truckloads) of guns but give you like 12 slots to keep the guns, so even if I have 4 powerful guns I keep my less powerful ones just because...well I don't need to explain why I keep my exploding sniper rifle.

You are looking at the guy who, in his 300 hour playthrough of Fallout 3 collected:
Every unique item avaliable.
600+ Mini nukes.
and 10,000 pounds of Enclave gear that I sold back to the outcasts.

I actually remember when the guy at the gate died, I had to lug it all the way to Megaton with thousands of pieces of power armor and Plasma rifles in my inventory. Took about half an hour.

So yeah, I hoard in RPGs.

EDIT: And before you ask about the 300+ hours, it was during the time that I was waiting for the DLC's. So everyday I spent about 10 hours roaming the wastes.

I used to hoard Fat Man ammo in Fallout 3, but that's because whenever i used it i would kill myself with it. Every. Damn. Time.

Though i think the game was punishing me for my hubris, cuz i was always as overconfident as fuck for some reason...

Otherwise, no i don't hoard in RPGs even in ME2 on Nightmare i was pulling out the Collecter Laser just to piss off Harbinger

I always save everything that's of any use with the thinking that "It's worth something so I'll keep it and use it later!". I get to the end of the game to find out I have a huge pile of potentially useful items that I haven't used and probably could've helped a great deal.

I am a hoarder, and I hate it. I always end RPGs with practically a mountain of "I might need it later" items. Those items practically always go unused too.

I'm, a massive hoarder, to the point where it kinda carried through into real life as well (still have every comsole I own all the way back to my NES and most all the games bought for as well).

But yeah, ammount of times i put off using my somas/megalixirs/etc 'for when i really need them' and end up finishing the game with them coming out of my arse... incalculable.
