Despite some more cynical posts, I'm an optimist at heart. Wouldn't have gotten through life up to now if I wasn't optimistic at times.

I'm seeing everything that I loved by only me and very few others be pushed more and more into the "mainstream". Bringing with it horriable attempts by hollywood and others to cash in on this genre one by one. It's also brought people into this genre (video games) who know nothing about it and do not have a passion for it making decions that affect the whole industry. i.e Activision and all the crap they've done recently. So yes, I'm very cynical and opinionated.

I don't know if its because I enjoy discussion but I usually take the opposite side of arguments and usually get some people mad now. For example the KoA demo let me down a little me, I really found it hard to get through he demo. But when my friends were talking about it saying it was so great I honestly answered and they got mad. After so many video games , good games just don't impress me anymore and I don't let myself lie to myself to justify my rent or purchase anymore so I am very harsh with games.

I try not to be cynical. Because by being cynical, I'm only depressing myself and those around me. Although for some reason I can't let myself become too optimistic about certain things either. I don't really know why.

I can barely contain my youthful optimism!

[self awareness]
....I wonder when my bubble will burst. Probably won't be too fun.

I'm more optimistic. That's most because the vast majority of people around here seem to have prescribed to this postmodern cynicism of everything and I'm the kind of guy who can't stand a one-sided fight so I'll take the side no body wants. Personally, My life might not be rainbows and unicorns but I'm not going to act like a sad sack of crap because of it.
Yep, I'm the same way as this guy. Sometimes doesn't always go to good in my favor.

Cynics annoy me.

I'm slightly cynical. I would like people to have some code of honor, but I know that's just a whimsical dream.
On a related note, I'm also a realist and an optimist, at varying times.
Though, the word 'cynicism' always reminds me of the line from The Great Dictator
"Our knowledge has made us cynical, our cleverness hard and unkind."

Nope, not really. I tent to enjoy things more often than I dislike them, I am not nit-picky, and tend to be more optimistic. Doesn't mean I can't be pessimistic about some things (Max Payne 3 is going to suck, damnit! I just know it!), but I love life and all it's marvels nonetheless (even thought it is kind of crappy for me, atm).

I grew out of being naively optimistic to become a relentless cynic...Then I realized that being relentlessly cynical just left me sort of depressed, so I went back a bit and settled into a realistic stance on life. Sometimes things are shit, sometimes things are great, but most things just are.

Honestly, I think nowadays most people with half a brain are cynical to a certain degree. With all the crap that happens and the things people do, its kinda hard to not be cynical and not be naive. However, I myself am more towards the optimistic side of the spectrum. Not everyone out there is a two bit scumbag, but not everyone is going to be a good samaritan. I try to maintain my hope and faith in society, even through all the horrific stories. I think Sam said it the best: "theres some good in this world, and its worth fighting for". That's the mentality I try to have.

An elitist princess that sexually loves everyone to the point where they find being around me uncomfortable, for the most part. Yes, I am cynical, and yes, I am optimistic. What does that mean? It means this post leaves a cliffhanger.

I'll admit, I tend to write off the majority of cynics as persons lacking in a bit of maturity for any number of reasons (Teenager, burned by something, short-sighted, etc.). I certainly had my cynical phase as a grouchy teenager.

Hindsight is unfortunately painfully clear, is it not?

Thankfully these days I take a much more balanced approach in many things.

I don't think I am, but people tend to say that I can be rather cynical at times. So I suppose I am in some reguards, but it's not really by choice.

I'm British so of course I'm cynical, it's in our blood after all. The only reason we like queues is because they are long and we can complain about them.

Now get me a cup of tea!

I am the cynic who looks at what he sees and has an opinion grounded in something largely resembling fact, interesting discussion, and a twist of comedy. I am also the cynic who likes to be pleasantly surprised. Many of the bad things I might see coming a mile away? I want to be wrong about them. Besides, there is also the anti-cynic cynical approach I have. Cynical behavior can work both ways. I can just as easily not believe the words of ANOTHER cynic, and thus turn the board around weirdly. It helps that I took a number of philosophy courses!
That's pretty much me. Except for the philosophy courses.
Same as me, but I'm actually taking a philosophy class this semester at college.
