No, I've bought it twice.

I'm not going to buy it a third time.

I'm not buying Halo anymore, not after what Microsoft's been doing to it.

I was a massive Halo fan, but Microsoft has milked me out.

Not to mention the fact that this game just looks ugly and awkward. Master Chief looks silly in the HD graphics, and all the guns behave strangely.

And besides, name one game that hasn't taken a nose-dive after a developer change.

The only one that comes to mind is Fallout.

I picked 'yes' but only because there is no 'maybe'. I'm certainly intrigued enough to consider buying it i only for nostalgia's sake but at the same time I already own the original game and can I really justify buying an upgraded version of the same basic game?

I'm tempted to, that's for sure. But as to whether or not I will, that's another matter.

Definitely getting, though why no legendary/collector's version? Or at least why can't I find one? I've always got special editions except for CE because I didn't know what to expect and I got it with my original xbox on release date.

I would, but Microsoft hates me for buying Windows 7. I'll just have to settle with a Halo 1 + 2 boxed set off Amazon, and then collapse into fits of nostalgia and joy.

Also, has anyone else noticed an uncanny resemblance between the beginning of Halo 1 and RAGE?

Surely you're not going to claim Halo ripped off RAGE?

Honestly I wish this would be done for more games, as it is starting to in some forms (3DS versions of old N64 games. Its not great, but its a start...).
Upping the graphics and possibly tweaking out a couple of bugs so that an old game with great gameplay can stand with the new games coming in in terms of technology? A great idea. There are so many old games I love playing, but have to stop doing so after a couple of hours because the extremely poor graphic quality gets to me. Halo doesn't really have this problem, but its on its way there.
To all the people saying 'I want extra content too' that makes no sense. Despite destroying the story continuity in some cases, you would be changing the reason this is being made. It is not a sequel to the Halo franchise, that is what Halo 4 is. It is the original Halo in its own glory being revamped to today's graphical standards. The AI was good enough, play on the highest difficulty and tell me its a cakewalk. There may be tricks and exploits that let you get past easily, but that's the fun of using them. If you don't want that to be there, simply don't use them and try and win without it. I know a number of people will be able to do this, and quite probably easily, but many more will not. In addition, according to one of the posts on the first page, there is some minor new content involving skulls and story involving 343 guilty spark through video terminals, which is really about all that should be done. Skulls are for fun muck around things IMO, and a story for 343 guilty spark wouldn't go astray, and probably wouldn't interfere too much with the rest of the story.

Buying the reboot to a game which change gaming into what we know today, is going to have to take the backseat to getting a new PC. If I got any loose change lying around after that I might consider, considering Gears and Warfare are only the last game with a new coat of paint. With Halo I at least have something that positively contributed to gaming.

Halo is the most masterfully created simple-shooter campaign I have ever played. That is to say, other shooters have been great (Bioshock, Half-Life 2, etc.), but few have captivated me the way the first Halo did, and I also but it on a bit of a different tier than many simply because the gameplay is more straightforward and simple. There's nothing wrong with that, and Halo has always done it very well, using simple gameplay mechanics to allow a certain depth depending on how the player progresses.

Also, I am going to make the claim that the first Halo was brilliantly atmospheric and told a very interesting story very well. It really did. People overlook this so much, mainly by criticizing the game for lacking elements it didn't even try to have and simply wasn't about. The story was very interesting and had some great sci-fi concepts and twists, and everything from the dialogue to the visuals to the music (especially the music) was made to create a sense of awe, wonder, and dangerous beauty. It was a brilliant game, and I can't freakin' wait to play it rendered in Reach-quality graphics (since Reach was, after all, an absolutely gorgeous game).
