The lack of a PS3 port makes Hazy a sad panda.

So that's a negative. >_<

Probably not; I haven't gotten any of the other games so why start now?

Anything else to discuss...?

It's not the traditional Splinter Cell, they had to change the basic mechanics of it all. Not getting previous games means jack shit.

Neither have I, yet I feel compelled to buy it because of the great times I had at my mates house on co-op. Also the fact that it looks more like 24 the game now, which for me is a massive step forward in my jack bauer fetish.

I don't care about the game mechanics; I care about the story. I don't want to get the story just over Wikipedia or through crap Youtube vids so I'd prefer to not get into it now when I won't understand the story over playing through all the other games which will cost me more money...

No. I vowed to never buy a game that requires a constant internet connection for single player. I know it has multiplayer, but that doesn't interest me.

Shame to, the game looks really fun.

According to IGN's review, Conviction does a pretty good job of getting you up to speed with Sam Fisher's tale.

Even so, the subject matter itself isn't too convoluted. It's fairly straightforward.
It's not to the same effect of, say, playing Metal Gear Solid 4 before the other 3 iterations.

I see. Well, perhaps I'll rent it at some point.

Here's what you need to know. Sam used to work for the government. Then his daughter was killed and, after one last mission (the entirety of Splinter Cell: Double Agent), he goes rogue to track down her killers. That's about all you need to know; the plots for each game are reasonably complex, but they rarely reference other games in the series.

Well that's just lame... Again, I'll just go ahead and Rent conviction some time later.

I doubt I will. The story looks great with his daughter's death and his lust for vengeance, but alas it is not enough to drop the cash for it.

Get rid of the fucking DRM for the PC, and I will buy it. If they keep the DRM then they lost me, sucks because I was so pumped for that game. But I will not support Ubisoft as they bum-fuck their costumers.

Maybe...I'll see what people say about it on the PC. I'm a big fan of the Splinter Cell series and I want to love this game when it comes out, but after I heard that this game was specificaly designed for the 360, I got worried that the PC port will be half-baked.
So we'll wait and see.

I bought Just Cause 2 and at the same time reserved my copy of Conviction. Got home put in the JC2 disc and my Xbox is broke. Not red ringed just wont read discs and makes a really fun (read: terrifying) grinding noise. So I mailed the box off yesterday and now get to wait the 3 weeks to get it back. Ill still be picking up Conviction when it comes out....just wont be able to play it (or JC 2 for a while )

Only system I ever considered getting this game on was my PC and between the worst DRM ever conceived and a good chance the USB device from the collector's edition wouldn't work I'm gonna say no.

Well... I loved Chaos Theory. Double Agent had boring headquarters parts but was solid otherwise. This just looks un-Splinter Cell though. They keep hyping how you can tag guys and Fisher will automatically kill them and how you have execution moves and stuff... I don't want more ways of killing, I want more ways to get through situations. The game's about gadgets and sneaking, but they're changing it to guns and shooting. It's becoming another lame cover-based shooter.

If a demo comes out on PC, I'll try it. Otherwise, no.
