Last night I was up really late just listening to music and lurking the Escapist. I just finished a horror movie marathon with a follow up of looking up scary crap on Wikipedia. At that moment I heard in the corner of the room an office chair I have started creaking which is weird since it only creaks when you spin it around fast. It creeped me out for awhile but I got over it. Then the sliding fly screen door at the back of my house(which I locked) made a noise as if someone was trying to open it and but couldn't because it was locked. After that I was so creeped out that I just went upstairs and tried to go to bed.

Obviously there is a rational explanation for this but has anyone ever had any moments when they just freaked out because of something that they couldn't explain?

I have my small bouts of irrationality. About two days ago, I managed to scare a girl because I went, well, she describes it as psycho. Sometimes I'm unable to sleep because of a nightmare I had at the time. I usually am rational though, but I tend to have a pessimistic tinge to it.

Usually. But there are some moments where insanity and strange thoughts get the better of me. Thankfully, I am able to keep those moments of madness to myself most of the time.

yeah I had a sleep deprived episode, after working a double shift and going to a monster all night party, with no sleep in between, as I was going to sleep I swore I saw two people rushing me in my bed, from my door way. I leaped off my bed and promptly put my baseball bat through my wardrobe door.
My cat wasn't very impressed either, think it landed in the laundry basket.
After I switched on the light I sat down and remembered that someone at the party was a police officer talking about two people who were still at large who had committed a home invasion in the area.

I like to think of myself as rational, but often I will inexplicably jump to the worst possible situation. I haven't the foggiest why.

I had the house to myself for a week, and I accidentally celebrated by getting absorbed in Snopes debunking of urban legends. I was so frightened that I relocated my sleep position to the living room couch where I'd kissed my girlfriend for the first time (literally that night) and where the cats were more likely to stand guard.

I feel your pain.
