Poll: Are zombies getting old?

I love zombies. I love the slow brain eating Night of the living dead zombies too the fast 'just trying to kill' zombies of dawn of the dead. And I really like the special zombies of left 4 dead.


But sometimes I think that zombies are..well..lazy. They are a simple enemy, wether fast or slow, that can be replaced with thugs or ninjas or...anything really. Games like left 4 dead spice things up wiht the special zombies like the hunter, but even that gets old after awile.

So tell, people of the interweb, Are zombies getting old to you?

I'm getting kinda sick of them. Zombies are a meme. I hate memes.

What I hate more is the facts that there's a virus you get when you come in contact with infected blood, and all these people are running around killing the hosts, making a huge mess, and no-one is covering their mouth, nose, or eyes.

One drop of blood in your mouth and you're a zombie. Cover the hell up.

The average age of a combat zombie in a movie was 19... nanana 19. Sorry... couldn't help myself. But to answer your question: I think (almost?) everything is already done regarding zombie flicks. ... And were exposed to hostile fire almost every day!

I officially decided I was sick of Zombies when I walked into a comic shop and saw four different Marvel Zombies hardcover trades, including one of nothing but the covers from the comics.

You weren't here in the fall of '08 but I felt like I'd beaten Fallout 3 to death before I even bought the game. I'm getting New Vegas on release day and I'll probably not be on these forums for at least a week or two until I've had time to beat the game backwards and forwards.

Zombies were old when Troma made zombie flicks...

But most of you have no bleeding idea what Troma movies are even..

Well thats why I now avoid Game Discussion, but generally that section bores me to tears and /v/ is to me a better place for games.

I dont think they're getting as old as they could be but I think everything that can be done with zombies has been done; I could be wrong tho =p. Personally I think Vampires are getting old very quickly.

Considering that zombies have lasted this long (and I consider Frankenstein's Monster to be one of, if not the first zombie in our culture), I can't say they're getting old at all. The undead have always been around.

Even though i selected the BRAINSSS! option i still feel like the zombie enemy in games are becoming... irrelevant... WE NEED MORE ZOMBIE GAMES, a low ammo escape the city slow zombie apocalypse game and... a psychic gun wielding rage zombie fighter trying to take down a zombie spawner under the city infecting everyone.(Dev's if your seeing this i would so buy this... just make a different story though.)

I don't think zombies are getting old, but they are an easy way for a horror writer to get over a creative block. With the number zombie related things out there, it'd seem creative blocks happen surprisingly often...

That said, I love a good (and sometimes a not so good) zombie film.
