so today is my 16th birthday (sweet 16 my ass!) and i dont know what is going on...
i didnt ask for a party and i dont know if ill have one...
i do know that this day is probably going to be a bad one im already in a bad mood and even thou its to late now im asking miself should i have asked my friends to throw me a party?
i mean it just sounds wrong if they decide to throw a party good for me i have good friends if not shame on them i guess...
but asking for one? whats the point in that?
so the question is should i have asked for a party?

EDIT: due to some commets id like to note that last week we threw a party to an other friend who wasnt around for her birthday (she was on a trip) and we orginized it (well technicly i ended up not helping because i myself was on a trip until 3 days before the party) it wasnt a suprise but she didnt help orginizing so yea those are the kind of friends i have...

Learn to show some initiative. A surprise party is all well and good, but if you want one don't just sit back and hope your friends will throw you one unless you know them well enough to be sure they will.

So no, you shouldn't have "asked for a party", you should have checked if your friends would have been interested in coming to one then thrown it yourself.

Throw your on party. Don't make it their problem that you didn't have a party, because it's not. If you want to do something on your birthday, then do it. Don't expect other people to just secretly know what you want and set it up for you.

Feeling angsty much?

no... you should've planned one yourself!
at least, that's the way we do things around here.
if it's too expensive, just ask people to bring their own booze or to give you money as a birthday present.
also... do NOT let anything ruin this day for you. if anything bad happens, just say: fuck it, I'll fix it tomorrow, because today I'm gonna be AWESOME!
but I guess if you really wanted someone else to throw you a party, you could've asked them to.

I never had to ask. Between childhood & teenhood we had a birthday routine we never broke: Skating, miniature golf, bumper cars, water park, & dinner at a casino. (I know that seems a bit much, but all of this stuff was in close proximity).

asking people to throw you one kinda makes you sound... well... desperate/pathetic.

I don't know why that is, but its just the kind of thing you cant do once you hit your teens without it being kinda sad.
lol my thoughts exactly

Don't sweat it. Before too long you'll be old like me, and a birthday will be just another day. In a strange way, I have it better. No pressure for it to be a good party, or to get the presents I want, or whatever else party-goers do. Birthdays cease to be a red-letter day, and you can't help but wonder what all the fuss was about, since things are usually better when you were young. [They weren't really, its usually a fallacy based on the idea that everything is better than right now.]

Whether you get your party or not; have a Happy Birthday.

I will now make birthday cheer-type word-sounds: *fweeeeet* *fweeeeet*
(writing 'toot' felt silly)

Throw your own damn party.
Exactly. You want a party then you organise and pay for it. Don't expect your friends to have to do all the work.

Birthdays started being just another say since I was 14, so I really don't know what to say, if you don't get a party thrown just go out and do something you enjoy?

Eh I celebrated my 16th birthday by...um....oh right I did not.

But yeah, if you felt that a party would be a nice thing, you should throw it yourself. You know, if you want something to be done you do it yourself and stuff.

I hate when people visit and 'celebrate' my birthday. Constant phone calls. I don't like the attention. I don't like parties.

Ever get that "You're too old for..." something. At around 14, I realized that the presents I did get were garbage and I never wanted them to begin with. The following year, they were no where to be seen. Seeing as all my presents had such terrible life expectancy, I started asking for random things when asked what I wanted. Then I got that "You're too old for that." so the following year and since, I don't ask for anything. And that's much more frustrating for them - and it's their own fault.

If you want a party, you throw it yourself. You aren't entitled to one just for surviving to the age of 16.

If you want one, organize it yourself?
Do you organize surprise parties for all of your friends? If no, then why would it be any different for you.

Did you throw your friends a surprise party?

There is your answer.
I wish I could elaborate more eloquently on the subject, but rokkolpo just sums it up so nicely.

ahh birthdays,
generally I spend them curled up in bed, wishing the world (and my mother) would leave me alone!

Who needs a party, just do what you want, go out, eat food, don't try to get served (they'll see a sixteen year old from a mile away!)

When I have parties, my parents and I usually plan it. I don't expect others to plan parties for me.

So your friends threw another party just last week, a party which you yourself admit to not helping out with. I'm going to chalk it up to them being tired and expended of party resources.

A friend of mine had her birthday the other day, and threw a party the Monday prior. The weekend is almost (or already depending on your time zone I guess) upon us. Just throw a party for yourself, its really not that hard. Seriously, time that you are currently spending whining on the internet is time better spent planning and throwing a kick-ass party.

Anyway, if it's any consolation, Happy 16th Birthday idodo35!
