Maybe your poll question and thread title should regard the question you're asking then instead of the topic of "them"s inane argument.

Polls are pretty inane as is. And how on earth do I poll the subject of gullibility and fanboyism amongst the masses?

I want to see some discussion about the subject, the poll's just a bit extra to add fuel to the topic.

I'm getting deja vu here, I honestly thought people would read before they posted.

We're still 'the last bastion of intelligence', aren't we? Why can't we have any relevant discussion than the waffle of 'inane this' and 'blah blah why should I care'? Come on guys, throw me a bone here. This place hasn't changed that badly, has it?

Well considering the movie is officially called "The last airbender" and the TV show has the name "Avatar: the last airbender: while Jamer Cameron's is just "Avatar", there is no infringment and it doesn't really matter.

The concepts, the visual settings, the stories... It's just about different. I don't see why they have such a pissing Contest. What? We can never put the word "Avatar" in a title anymore because of these two films? You can't copy right a noun...

I thing the idea of JC avatar was first since it's like ten years in the makin or somethin' but since "The last airbender" came out way before then that one was first. Also what part did Mark Hamill play in the show.

Last Airbender was first, but they're both completely different things, apart from their titles of course.

In my mind, Momo will always come first, blue people be damned.

I know I should expect inane-ness on any forum, but seriously.
How long exactly have you been here? Because there have been plenty worse threads than this one.

There's no debating dates, but if you're going to have a conversation with people and just say "Avatar", you should know enough to realize they're going to think you're referring to the most successful movie ever, not some random 2005 movie nobody remembers, and at the very least will likely be thinking of the new one that comes outs soon (today?), not the older one.

There's also the fact that, at least in my experience, most people refer to it as the "The Last Airbender", not Avatar.

If they ever bring up the subject, question them if Avatar and Avatar: TLA are really that simular and they aren't ripping each other off, but just used the name Avatar without meaning to rip off from the other. This isn't like Prototype vs. Infamous, where everything from the basic plot to the gameplay, to the style, to the side missions are almost the same. This is the case of an apple, and a red fruit rollup, with the only thing they share is the fact they are red.

He was the voice of Fire Lord Ozai

I think that The Last Airbender was first since it was the first to be released.

If you dismiss that reasoning, you could say that the idear for The Last Airbender was in the mind of one of the creator way before James Cameron began writing Avatar, but you don't have evidence for either

The Last Airbender came 1st, the series was released and finished before Camerons Avatar was so it makes sense.

Though Cameron did have the script written for about 15 years before production stated.

What?? He was writting it for 15years?? Am I seeing this right??
I did kinda enjoy the movie, but let's be honest, it wasn't exactley complex in the story department... what was he doing to take that long?

It doesn't matter if someone thought of the idea first what matters is who did it first. Aang and the Gaang appeared on the scene first so they are first.

Honestly, your friends are idiots. Development does not equal release. The concept of JC's Avatar may have came before TLA but TLA was released before JC's avatar. Development might have started before dancing with wolves, but they don't say that ripped of JC's avatar, do they?

It took me roughly 20 minutes to explain to my dad that James Cameron's Avatar was not a movie about Avatar: The Last Aribender

...and that The Last Airbender is in fact the first movie actually about Avatar: The Last Airbender...

...He still refers to JC's Avatar as "the Fake Avatar" and The Last Airbender as "the Real Avatar", though...and doesn't like blue people...

The idea for JC's Avatar may have existed for a long time, but Nick's Avatar was released well before JC's was ever released. The naming is just probably a coincidence.

When was it announced? James Cameron's Avatar was announced when? As long as it was announced before Last Airbeder then who cares?

Also, screwed up filing systems for the win!

Calumon: No-one is safe! Flee from the awkward filing systems!
