Hey ;D

I couldn't resist, and seeing how their isn't a thread for this yet, I thought I would seize the opportunity,

Now depending where you live, you may or may not have the album yet - but you can hear bits of it all over the place. But if you have heard it, what do you think? Better than their old stuff? worse? Let me know!

Maybe you pre-ordered the 'Book of Nightmares' Basically - just talk about anything regarding the album. Favourite song? Whatever.

I'll put up some links of the songs that have officially been released in a bit

*EDIT*

I say the album's good, but I've only heard the song NIghtmare.

I like it, in fact more than most of their stuff, despite everyone else hating it just because it isn't the rev.

I'm not even sure if that song has the rev or the new drummer guy in it...

It's Mike Portnoy from Dream Theater.

The only song with the Rev is Fiction. Look it up, it's pretty freaky..(The story behind it)

Meh.

A7X to me have always been a modern G'n'R, metal for the masses. The entire metalcore genre is the same. Avenged Sevenfold (album) had some decent tracks but overall I'm not mad about them.

I'm impressed at their resolve, though.

I haven't heard any of the new album but I gave up on them after hearing City of Evil and personally, I think that Portnoy is wasted on them. I'm going to look up a few of the new songs now.

EDIT: Well.... I stand by my earlier point that Portnoy is indeed wasted on them. He must have been bored playing this album if Nightmare is anything to go. That's not to say that every band has to be as virtuoso as Dream Theatre but I just imagine that Portnoy likes to be as busy as possible when playing. I'm also unsurprised to see that they've stuck to their line of what I like to call "Pussy Metal". It's like they're trying to be badass but they just end up sounding pretentious and over dramatic.

Nope... Sevenfold died for me after Waking the Fallen when they forgot about the first 7 frets.

I appreciate where you're coming from, but I urge you to check out a few others. Nightmare is more of a main stream song, it doesn't reflect the album. Buried alive is more what the new album is about. It also has one of their heaviest songs to date (heavier than anything of STST) called 'God hates us' You have never heard him scream like this before.

The album is a lot more like FTF, but it has a lot more emotion behind it since 80% of the lyrics are about the Jimmy. But before passing the album off, listen to 'God hates us' 'Save me' and 'Fiction' along with 'Buried alive'

I also posted 'Welcome to the family' but if you're not a fan of Nightmare, I doubt you'll like that.

I'm not trying to force my opinion on you, but i'm saying don't pass the album off cause of Nightmare ;)

Mike studied the way The Rev played also before he died he recorded a ton of demos and those were also used throughout the album.

the guitar work is good in my opinion, but the lyrics just don't quite do it for me. They are a bit mainstream metal, but they're alright. Also, I'm pretty sure that the reason their style changed was because m shadows had injured his vocal chords, so no more screaming from the early days. Whatever though, both styles of Avenged Sevenfold are good in their own way.

Never really was a fan of them except for a song here and there but other than that I don't see much to them. Also I never was a fan of metalcore to begin with I don't think Avenged Sevenfold will change my mind on the genre. But if its what you like thats fine.

Avenged Sevenfold are pretty good.

I might see them at the NIA in a few weeks time.

I only own their City of Evil album at the moment...

I've only heard one song, and it was pretty good. I still think Waking the Fallen was the best thing they ever did or will do though.

At least listen to the album before judging it. The album is more WtF than S/T

But if you're gonna read anything, read this
Nightmare is nothing like the rest of the album. It's just more mainstream to attract the masses. I wasn't a fan of the self titles album, but this album is so much more raw. Listen to buried alive if you want a better taste for the album.

If you got the limited ed. of the book of nightmares, it gives you the original "Nightmare" with the Rev on drums. Also I'm going to playing this with Starcraft 2 all week long!

The whole video I thought of Jacob's Ladder.

That shit is uncanny.

Also, I'm not really that fond of the song "Nightmare". It's not really memorable, at all. Some of their earlier songs have been. To me, at least.
I listened to about half of the song, then decided "Fuck this", and put on some "Ten Foot Cock And a Few Hundred Virgins".

Does that mean Portnoy is now playing with A7X?

I... don't really know how to react to that...

Shame, I hadn't been paying attention to them as much as I should.

Nightmare is... meh.

Second: Alright!
