As I surfed the internet the other day, looking for images to prove a point in some Escapist thread or another, I chanced upon a marvelous discovery. It is an announcement certain to be met by the majority of Escapists with profoundest apathy!

Shiki Ryougi will be a character in the PS2 port of Melty Blood: Actress Again!

Anyway, I immediately forgot what I was supposed to be doing. Thus, it only struck me five minutes later that I was doing my geek dance, a subtle and complex number that to the trained eye resembles a combination of Caramelldansen, Hare Hare Yukai, and Motteke Seifuku, and to the untrained eye resembles a hashed-up penguin swatting imaginary insects.

And I thought, as I got a hold of myself again, "Surely I can't be the only one? The only one who reacted with a nerd's sheer physical joy at some announcement (like, say, Ike's inclusion in Smash Brothers)?"

Am I?

I've done it quite a few times. Like some of the anouncements for Halo 3, or Horde mode in Gears.

You are not special nor will you ever be!

Mm, I don't really geek out to most things, unless the very sweet nectar'd things, like uh. Hmm. I think I freaked out when Fable 2 comes out. It's basically starting from a low squeal to a full out scream, waving my arms like I'm flapping them, flying. And then I run around my house and stuff. I suppose it burns calories.. :/

I don't geek out overmuch, but, I admit it, yes, I geek'd out when I heard that Pokemon Gold and Silver were being remade. I still feel my geek out was justified.

Who is Shiki Ryougi and what is Melty Blood: Actress Again? Also, will it be avaiable in Europe, and when, since it actually looks pretty funky, and I'm a sucker for anime-style fighting games.

Other: Probably not... I don't do it but I find it amusing nonetheless.

I haven't learned Ms. Suzumiya Haruhi's personal dance or the Lucky star one, but that's due to not looking anything like a trap, therefore it would probably be considered too otaku or gay :(. Caramelldansen is just swinging your hips while making bunny ears with your hands and anybody can do it :p.

I thought this thread was going to be about Freakazoid...
And I was mightily disappointed when it wasn't.
Crap, the reference is kinda what I was aiming for. Backfired on me, I suppose.

Shiki Ryougi is the protagonist of the Type-Moon novel-later-turned-anime Kara no Kyoukai (English title, Garden of Sinners), which was the company's first work (at that point still a doujin circle, they became a company after releasing the more well-known Fate/Stay Night). Actress Again is the fourth installment of Melty Blood, a fighting game spinoff of Type-Moon's first game release, the visual novel Tsukihime. I'm excited partly because she's a pretty cool character (and is the original Type-Moon character with Mystic Eyes of Death Perception), partly because she's the first/only non-Tsukihime character in the game.

I'm not sure if it will be available in Europe or NA, really (I'm planning on importing a copy). The Melty Blood games were originally for PC (and started getting arcade ports with the third installment), however. I found the first three installments (Melty Blood, Re-Act, and Act Cadenza) in torrent form, and Mirror Moon released translation patches for all of them.

I don't say this very often, but...

There is no Tsukihime anime.

My geek-out dance occured in the communal area of the student residence I'm currently living in just recently. There was a trailer for the new Star Trek movie (which is EPIC WIN!!) and I finally saw and heard the new Chekov. Said dance involves several moves from the 'Saved Your Life' bit from Emperor's New Groove and girlish squeals.
