Does anyone believe this actually works or do you think its just hype?

My 8800GTX decided to crash and subsequently artifact today, and after searching on the interwebs for a solution (no RMA, its out of warranty) i came across this
http://hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1421792&highlight=OMG+worked

So i decided what the hell ( it was this or buy a new card, and im currently strapped for cash) and i took it apart, and baked it for 8 minutes along with two other non working cards ( 7900gt and a 7300gt both of which didnt POST) and to my surprise it worked (7900gt still no POST but the 7300gt artifacts but POSTs)

I decided to ask you guys what do you think about it?

That may help resecure the solder points, so if that's what's wrong with the card then yes, baking may make it work again.

The Xbox 360 RROD towel trick kinda worked as well. Don't consider it a proper fix though. In any way you have nothing to lose, just make sure you remove the fan and casing so you don't melt those.

I would just check for weak solder points around high heat areas around the card and re-solder them. If there was questionable solder used to begin with the problem will come back when the heat gets to high. Alternately you may want to invest in some more/better fans for your rig. Solder should not be failing like that unless there is way too much heat.
