I'm a retard, disregard my opinion.
Don't spoiler tag it. If you don't have the sack to insult me without concealing how immature you are, then you have no business saying anything at all.

I hope you mean ACII. The first Assassin's Creed is a very mediocre game. AA is much better.
I wouldn't call it mediocre, I had a great time with it and it has at least two aspects that are better than Arkham Asylum: the writing doesn't rely on comic book cliches, and it's rendered much cleaner. All the highlights shining off of Batman's gloves and everyone's faces are pretty ugly. But AA does control much better and has a universal appeal - everybody loves Batman.

At the end of the day, though, AC is my idea of a perfect game design. Plenty to explore, beautiful vistas and a very engaging story. Just beat it 15 minutes ago, looking forward to playing the sequel now. Not counting on ever understanding that weak ending though...
I was a bit harsh sorry, just comparing it to AA or calling it perfect seems ridiculous to me :p

Graphics wise it's a very pretty game for 2007(a bit dated now), but the gameplay ruined it a bit, it's so repetitive and it has too many flaws to be considered perfect. But hey, if you hold AC in that high of a regard you will consider ACII absolutely amazing. So enjoy that!

actually, I found a lot of similarities between AC and AA too, which to me, was great. AA was definitely better then AC (and i loved AC - I even got all of the flags in the game, and 1000'd it).. but when I was playing through AC, I thought it would make a great batman game. Make it dark, turn the throwing knife into a batarang, add some batears to Altair, and bam, you're playing batman.

The combat was better, but similar, to AC. It had a strong focus on combo hits and counter attacks. Batman and Altair both explored huge areas with tall buildings, Batman was given a grapple hook, which took some of AC's Tedious Parkour and wall climbing elements out of it.

They both upgraded their equipment/life/capabilities in similar ways and at similar increments. Again, batman wins out for the coolness of his upgrades, and the number of upgrades available, but it was a newer game. If it took cues from AC, it learned from AC's mistakes.

Trust me, as a guy who played the hell out of both games (1000'd AC, would have 1000'd AA if I had had it for more then a week, regardless I got every % of completion out of the campaign, all the riddles, all of the achievements tied to playing through the game, even the hidden ones), they're very similar in design. AA is more refined, definitely, but they're definitely the same genre. If you loved AC, you'll love AA. If you hated AC, then you might not see AA as the masterpiece that it was.

It might be overrated but it's still good regardless so just be happy with that.

Combat could have been better. It was as if Batman took the player's button presses as suggestions and figured he'd get around to it. He just responded too slowly. Then there are the bullshit enemies, the ones with knives and stun batons that for some reason, despite years of martial arts training, Batman can't figure out where to hit them on their body without them blocking.
Or maybe you just suck at this game ;)

Nice comeback. Very original.

No, I'm actually better at this game than most everyone I know and they all say the same thing: Batman's combat, while fluid and fun, responds too sluggishly to properly respond to multiple enemies. I could literally count the second it takes between press of the button and him actually performing the hit or counter. Not to mention, the blocking enemies that require you to either cape stun or do the flip over them and attack from behind breaks the combo fluidity....again, because the developers for some reason had to put in progressively more annoying badguys in to counter all the neat moves Batman learns...rendering them useless and the player frustrated.

Was it a good game? Yeah, but certainly doesn't deserve all the accolades that have been thrown at it. For a Batman game, the combat should have just been better.

Although, I understand what you say about the button mashing when pulling grates off walls etc. The point you make about the titan enemies which act like Bane is (IMO) wrong. The enemies are meant to act like that because they have been injected with the titan syrum which turns Bane into a massive brute, it is a key point in the story.
The problem isn't that the titan henchmen act like Bane, the problem is that Bane acts like the titan henchmen.

Bane is supposed to be intelligent, almost as intelligent as Batman, he's not a mindless ape like he is in this game.
Bane went mindless cos the pumped loads of the stuff in didnt they or it wa smore concentrated than usual? Youll have to forgive me if im wrong it was nearish the start so i cant remember tht well

No, I'm pretty sure you are the only one that is unhappy with it.

I found the game to be quite enjoyable. All of it.

Oh wait, it must not be good because it is getting praise and awards left and right. Come on! This is a great game! I'm proud to own it! I'm getting sick of a certain section of gamers saying it sucks meerely because it is a popular game. It's popular because it is excellent. I have never played a game that so perfectly balanced stealth and fighting sequences. And who cares if certain elements were implausible? It's a comic book hero game! You're fighting against a mutant human crocodile and a woman who can control plants! And I'm seeing complaints about indoor gargoyles? Aye! But I digress. This is a game that deserves the praise that it gets. It is not overrated, it is not mediocre. Honestly people, get over yourselves.

i have to agree with OP and i find it to be an over hyped game as well. i played through it and thought that they did a good job meshing a melee combat system with things like grappling guns and dive bomb maneuvers and it utilized a stealth aspect alright. it even tried to juggle a platformer aspect to it and did a decent job at that as well. the problem that i found with this game was that it wasn't anything crazy spectacular shoot your pants of explosion time. it was a fun game but i would never play through it twice. it didn't have much to unlock and what it did have to unlock were just simple trophies n' what not. nothing pertinent to the gameplay. to give a comparison to a game that i currently find to be a much better game, i'll compare it to MGS4 which i've been playing a lot recently. now MGS4 has some very large flaws like the fact that there is almost more movie play than game play. but i find this game to be a thoroughly enjoyable experience to do over and over for multiple reasons. there are many unlockables like guns and equipment and other things that help with additional play throughs. the story line is wonderful whereas the storyline in AA seemed somewhat slap dashed together to me. overall i personally find that MGS4 is a more worthwhile game to play through more than one time than AA is.

It'll be Bane, Croc or Scarecrow who "survives". Which one you happen to see is apparently entirely random. I saw Bane's hand on my first playthrough, then Scarecrow on my second.

Hmmm... Rocksteady is making this game quite the game. I played it on Normal and saw Bane. Share what you got in which difficulty!

I don't think anyone said it's not good because of the praise. I have no idea where you got that from.

The only thing I'm disputing here is it's perfect rating. Even I think it's a good game. Admittedly, I wouldn't give it a second playthrough, but I still think it's good. Just not perfect. It's ridiculous to call it perfect when it has so many flaws.

Kind of overrated, for sure. It is an enjoyable game with fun gameplay and a really great story, but I'd give it a maximum of 8/10. It's not the best game ever, but it definitely deserves most of its praise at the same time.

It's a solid game. Great production, working gameplay, and few bugs. It even has a nostalgia factor for us old fogies that remember Batman TAS.
Thank you for taking the word's right out of my mouth.
