PC, and the one and only reason, which trumps anything good or bad about either system, FPS was made to be played with a MOUSE AND KEYBOARD THANK YOU.Paragon Fury said:I've come to an impass recently. I'm without a doubt going to get Battlefield 3. However, what I can't decide is what platform to get it for.
I'm stuck between getting it for my PC or my 360. I've gone through the pros and cons of each, and I can't really decide a winner. Here is the abbreviated list:
Xbox 360
+ I play my 360 A LOT more than my PC
+ 360 version looks fairly comparable to PC version so far in terms of graphics and gameplay
+ I prefer the joypad for shooters
+ I'll at least be able to talk to people while I play single player and am in a Squad.
+ I've played the last 2 BF games (Bad Company 1+2) on the 360
+ Minor Bonus: A stack of new achievements to pad my Gamerscore with
- Only 24 people on much larger maps than BC1 or 2
- DLC and patches likely to be BS-ier because of Microsoft
- No one to play with
- Will probably die out faster than PC
PC
+ With my brand new gaming PC I might actually get better performance out of the game than on 360 for once
+ I've played all the other BF games on PC
+ 64 player battles, larger maps
+ DLC and patches likely to faster, cheaper
+ Despite all claims, DICE clearly seems to be paying more attention to PC than console
- Likely to be few good 64 servers
- 64 players unlikely to much better than in previous BFs, where maps still often felt empty and the pace slow
- Terrible PC community
- Play in complete silence in both single and multiplayer
So I really can't make up my mind here......

For crying out loud, I'm sorry, but you're the straw that has broken my camel of tolerance's back, seriously, what is wrong with a mouse and keyboard? Is it too easy? What is it?
You know why we don't do cross-platform multiplayer, when it comes to shooters? Because the PC guys would kick the absolute shit out of the console guys, its just not even a fair comparison, the console guys are driving harleys, and the PC guys MotoGP bikes, just not fair at all, so that's why they dont' bother.
forget the 64 players, forget the 360 achievements, BF3 was designed to be played on PC, with a mouse and keyboard. Period.
Oh, and as for the squad thing, just go get yourself a good headset with a mic, wireless or usb or 3.5 green and pink, it doesn't matter, that solves that issue, besides 7.1 headphones is infinitely a greater experience (not to mention cheaper, more compact, simplier) that setting up 7 speakers in what will likely be a bedroom.
Play any FPS game on the PC, like TF2 or whatever, with your 360 pad.Paragon Fury said:Why joypad?
Because walking, running, climbing, stance changing, driving and piloting all are much easier, natural and control better with the layout of a controller and joysticks. Sure, you might be able to aim a bit better with a mouse, but a joypad with the sensitivity cranked and a set of FPSFreek sticks more than makes up for that.

Fixed for you. Unless you can prove it's better, it's all subjective.Paragon Fury said:Why joypad?

I wouldn't be surprised if it was 30 fps on consoles, lowering the max framerate helps with overall performance.natster43 said:PC. I should be getting a new computer soonish so I can play the superior version. But can someone tell me. I have heard that it is going to be 60 FPS on the PC and 30 on the consoles. Can anyone tell me if that is a load of bull or not?
Start playing your PC more than your 360Paragon Fury said:Xbox 360
+ I play my 360 A LOT more than my PC
Well, that's not really an advantage over the PC.+ 360 version looks fairly comparable to PC version so far in terms of graphics and gameplay
Kind of in response to your response to the people who think that a controller is worse, but running is just as simple, going to prone is faster (push a button rather than hold one down for a second(actually, I have no idea how prone will work on consoles)), and I don't quite understand how a controller has a better layout than a keyboard when you can't look around, aim, and shoot while jumping, reloading, or arming a bomb very well on a controller.+ I prefer the joypad for shooters
Third party VoIP programs and in-game chat?+ I'll at least be able to talk to people while I play single player and am in a Squad.
So?+ I've played the last 2 BF games (Bad Company 1+2) on the 360
That's always good.+ Minor Bonus: A stack of new achievements to pad my Gamerscore with
Not much to say about that.PC
+ With my brand new gaming PC I might actually get better performance out of the game than on 360 for once
+ I've played all the other BF games on PC
These really weigh in more heavily than anything else to me.+ 64 player battles, larger maps
+ DLC and patches likely to faster, cheaper
Just stick to those few good ones.+ Despite all claims, DICE clearly seems to be paying more attention to PC than console
- Likely to be few good 64 servers
Have you played 2142 Assault Lines with 64 people? That gets crazy.- 64 players unlikely to much better than in previous BFs, where maps still often felt empty and the pace slow
That just depends on the community you play with. Mine, for example...actually wait, that sounds kind of arrogant. I'll just say they're nicer than most people.- Terrible PC community
In-game voice chat, third party VoIP programs(Skype, Ventrilo) again.- Play in complete silence in both single and multiplayer
Until you can prove that the WASD and mouse is somehow more intuitive and natural to flying a plane/helicopter or driving a tank or jeep (Stick vs. buttons), or not having to move any fingers to hit prone/stay crouched I win the movement argument.Waaghpowa said:Fixed for you. I said nothing about WASD being better than gamepad. I'm simply saying that your choice of "superior" control method is based on your opinion. In MY opinion, having to take your thumb off the right joystick constantly for other actions makes aiming clunky.Paragon Fury said:Until you can prove that the WASD and mouse is somehow more intuitive and natural to flying a plane/helicopter or driving a tank or jeep (Stick vs. buttons), or not having to move any fingers to hit prone/stay crouched I win the movement argument.Waaghpowa said:Fixed for you. And I would use my joypad for more PC games; but pretty much EVERY SINGLE PC GAME OUT THERE has fucking TERRIBLE joypad controls.
Well on PC the framerate that you play at entirely depends on how good the hardware you're running is.natster43 said:PC. I should be getting a new computer soonish so I can play the superior version. Why? My 360 library IS HUUUUGE, and many more games I want come out on 360 than PC.

As for driving and piloting, I like being able to take a look around me while doing those things. (alt button)
In reality, it all comes down to personal preference and which one you started with, so this means no one can convince you on this point.
Third party VoIP programs and in-game chat?+ I'll at least be able to talk to people while I play single player and am in a Squad.
No, as in there will just be no one worth talking to.

If they can be found.

Yeah...on Leipzig and the other Northern Strike map. Thats about it.

I'm getting the PC version.
And to your below post, yes, it's all opinion. That statement was pure, solid opinion. Just the fact that people disagree with that and actually have a truth to their arguments means it was an opinion.
And not moving any fingers to go prone/stay crouched?
Your argument is a little self-defeating, in the fact that half of the actions you can take on a console require moving your right thumb off of the thumbstick that lets you aim or taking your finger off the trigger to push a shoulder button.
The only thing you need stop aiming for is Jumping, Reloading, Changing Weapons or activating something (IE: Get in vehicle, arm bomb etc). All of those things stop you from shooting or don't require aiming during, so you're safe. At the very worst, you can just claw the the right hand side of your controller, meaning you never have to move anything to do one of those actions.
