I thought about the PC, probably would have had to upgraded my computer to play it, but then, Origin happened, and i gave the whole playing it on the PC up...

That was half joking.

I haven't exactly seen very many random people worth talking to on Xbox LIVE, either...people who aren't random, however, are definitely worth talking to. And you can still talk to them on Skype or Vent or something.

3rd bold
Oh, they'll be able to be found. Sort by number of players. Unless what you mean by "good" is not "full." Usually the good servers tend to be full, though, because everyone wants to be on them because they are good.

4th bold
Not debating that.
Although, now that I think about it, if 64 players felt kind of empty, what'll 24 players fell like?

5th bold
All a matter of preference, really. But the point is you don't have to move any essential fingers at all for very long on a PC. Just your moving right key finger and your moving left key finger. And just the fact that, even if it's not important, you do have to take your thumb off the stick for doing important actions puts a serious hole in your argument. The problem is on both sides.

Well, anyway, you should read the edit I made. If you're really trying this hard to defend the 360, just get it on the 360.

Even if I had a rig capable of playing it, I would still get for the 360 on account of that's what my friends are getting it on.

Well, I know I'll be getting it on the 360, but that's because my laptop would probably suck for playing BF3 and all my buddies will be playing on the 360. If you really like your 360 and such, I'd get it for the 360, even if there'd be smaller battles and less graphics quality. The 12 vs 12 battles can get pretty nuts sometimes.

I'll buy it on a disk for PC. Origin prices are just not right, but I can't see the point of buying it for console if you have a PC that can run it. (I can't see the point of buying any game for console, but that is just me.)

I honestly don't see the problem with 64 player online. I have played on CoD4 and some HL2 mods with 50-55 player servers and they are usually lag free and fun. I am getting it for PC because I just feel it will be better. Don't have to pay for live, I didn't pay a dime for any BC2 DLC on PC and hoping it will be the same for BF3. Plus graphics will be better and maps will be bigger. Also mods eventually!

Xbox 360

+ 360 version looks fairly comparable to PC version so far in terms of graphics and gameplay

PC version will definitely look and play smoother if your PC is up to snuff. No doubting that, the console versions will be running at 30 fps, which is fine, but 60 is a much nicer place to be at.

+ I prefer the joypad for shooters

Given the game is also on consoles, I'm sure you could get a wired 360 controller, plug it in via USB and be able to play with that on the PC. Barring that, there is software that can help do the controls anyway.

PC

+ With my brand new gaming PC I might actually get better performance out of the game than on 360 for once

As I've said above, definitely.

- Terrible PC community

This goes both ways, I personally think 360's community is worse. At least with my experience in Bad Company 2 about 30% of the people I encountered had a mic, and very few of those who did were helpful at all.
Just my thought on a few of your points. I'd say go for the PC, if only for getting the game how it's meant to be. On consoles you're limited to 24 players and chopped up maps. DLC likely will be fairly pricey, but patches shouldn't be too much of an issue, just a bit slow to go through as it takes some time to go through Microsoft before it gets officially patched.

How can you call the PC community worse than the Xbox one, HOW?! Yes, both have a lot of douchebags in them, but Xbox surpasses every other community combined in that respect.

Also, I'd love to try playing you in any shooter with me using a mouse versus you with an Xbox controller. It'd be like a BMW M5 racing a smart car. Especially in Red Orchestra, Operation Flashpoint, or BF2.

Regardless of those two points, the BF series (excluding Bad Company) have been designed for PC, and hopefully this version won't be any different. Although I'm already losing hope that it will be anything like BF2, I sense another BFBC clone.

I have no problem admitting that it's made for PC and will be far better on PC.

That said, I think it will be incredibly fun on the 360, even if the multiplayer is a bit stunted (graphically-speaking and with a far smaller number of players per game).

I also will be buying it for 360 since I have no real desktop to speak of nor do I have $700+ to drop on a decent rig.

I see your problem...
this can be quite tough...
especially considering your one of THEM who prefers a controller...weirdo..

Putting that aside
I would have to say...PC
Why?
You just got a new rig, man
You got to test her out

EDIT:
Oh wait this is the "only Orgin" game?
...Fuck that shit...don't get it...
EA can suck it...
Yeah what ever get it for...dare I say...XBox

The PC people here are being so unbelievably pompous, wow.

.
How? People type on the PC. More type kills for me! Brush off those arrogant PC gamers by killing them when they are occupied. woot woot

Anywho I think there are more experienced people on the PC. There are some newbies and when they suck and bring the team down (like sniping when attacking in rush) they get pummeled with mean words.

I would pick PC because your skills are kind of limited on joy-pads (like turning around...if you want do to a quick 180 on a joy-pad, you can't really do precision kills, and if you go for precision kills, you can't do a quick 180)

Why joypad?

Because, in my opinion, walking, running, climbing, stance changing, driving and piloting all are much easier, natural and control better with the layout of a controller and joysticks. Sure, you might be able to aim a bit better with a mouse, but a joypad with the sensitivity cranked and a set of FPSFreek sticks more than makes up for that.
Fixed for you. Unless you can prove it's better, it's all subjective.
Until you can prove that the WASD and mouse is somehow more intuitive and natural to flying a plane/helicopter or driving a tank or jeep (Stick vs. buttons), or not having to move any fingers to hit prone/stay crouched I win the movement argument.

And I would use my joypad for more PC games; but pretty much EVERY SINGLE PC GAME OUT THERE has fucking TERRIBLE joypad controls.
Ok I was with you on the movement thing as even though I am a PC gamer mostly(in recent years) I understand Analog>WASD/ESDF but Mouse>Analog but on the PC I do not have to change finger position to hit crouch or prone they are on Shift and V for me.

This next bit is the real problem no not every single PC game out there has bad controls. The reason it is harder on PC is that PC does not give you aim assist or auto aim that you get on consoles.

Everything is better on pc if you can run it. I for once think that not having to listen to retards via microphone is why the pc is better.
Pc has some of the most terrible communities out there. If you don`t believe me play dota or hon.

Why is everyone admitting that mouse vs controller is subjective, then trying to say why one is better? If the OP says he prefers his xbox controller, factor that in, don't try to convince him that your subject choice is objectively better. I personally prefer a couple joysticks for shooters.

OP, why did you even make this thread? You obviously want to play on the 360 since you keep defending it, so just buy it for the 360.

Being more articulate doesn't make for a better community, which I think this thread is proving quite well. Sure, xbox kids cursing at you sucks, but can be ignored easily. Snobbish PC gamers? Bit harder to brush off. The community is only better if you plan on investing a lot of time and energy into it. If you just play occasionally, the PC community tends to be a lot harsher. Oh, and for the record, I do play quite a few PC games (Civilization 5, Star Craft 2, Heroes of Newerth, et cetera).

My advice is if you are going to be playing this often for a while, get it for PC. If you're just going to play occasionally for a couple months, get it for 360.
I don't really follow you decide to be less pompous than PC gamers by calling all PC gamers in this thread pompous. That does not compute. This is not subjective anyway. Analog is obviously superior to WASD/ESDF if you think about it. There is greater control over speed and direction as PC has 1 speed and can only do forward, back, left, right and diagonals but Mouse is better than Analog for aiming. This is technology there is clear better when it comes to tech. Now when it comes to which you prefer I don't care who prefers what but having a controller is not a + for consoles since it is not exclusive to consoles.

I hardly see what people's issues with Origin are. It takes up the same resources as Steam, has basically the same restrictions and if you actually play your games it doesn't do anything to them.

And I'm not defending 360 because I think its better; I defend because is not a clear tech or system winner here. If it was clear that I would get a better experience on one console or another I wouldn't have had to make this thread, would I?

Poll is 110 to 18 for PC. Seems pretty clear what we think. In any case, more players and better controls would be enough of an argument for me to buy it on Pc rather than 360. If you for some reason think that controllers are better and like playing small games on large maps... enjoy your 360 version.

I'm not sure why I care as I don't play Battlefield at all..

ok, I'll run down your points:
1. that's no point, you play games you like and you just own more games you like on the 360. if you were to get BF3 on the Pc, you'd start playing pc more and 360 less.
2. I'm pretty sure PC looks better, but maybe you have an insane TV set or something. still, it's not a point in favor of the 360.
3. so why not get a gamepad for your pc? or better yet, use your 360 controller for you pc (apparently, you can!)
4. get a headset?
5. minor point, can only say if it's a pro if you played it on both and preferred the 360 version.
6. not even going to comment on that one. gamerscore is completely pointless anyway.

the cons are pretty solid as far as I can see, except for the DLC bit. you know windows is owned by microsoft too, right? so either way it's going through them.

7. yes, you probably will. and it's a good way of making sure you didn't just waste a ton of money on something your barely use...
8. again, not really a pro. and it just renders point 5 pointless :p
9, 10, 11. yep, I pretty much agree with you there

12, 13. I don't think so, it's an anticipated title... but only time will tell.
14. what? I don't think so. besides, like xbox live is filled with good-mannered, mature people...
15. I'm pretty sure PC supports headsets too. but really, how often do you really communicate on xbox live and get anything useful out of it? I don't think it's a very big point.

bottom line: go with the PC version.

Oh it'll run. I know that. But the question is will it run significantly better than my 360?
Mind posting your system specs? DICE has promised us that, if you can run Bad Company 2 (and I have a fair idea what kinda PC you need for that) you can run BF3 just as well.

If that turns out good, I say go for the PC version. If your PC is good enough it'll run a lot better on the PC than on the 360 and it'll look quite a bit better. You can also pick and choose servers, so if you don't like one just look for another and Favourite it if it's good.

And really, 24 people max just doesn't cut it for a Battlefield game. BC2 managed to make 32 work, but 24? I doubt it. At least not as well as 64, and if that's too much you can still look for, say, 48 people servers.

1: I've been kicked from servers for enough reasons to be wary of any server. Such reasons include, but are not limited to:

- Doing too good as Commander
- Defending myself as Commander
- Doing too well in the Tank
- Doing too well in the Walker
- Keeping the Transport chopper alive too long
- Not being in a clan
- Refusing to join a clan
- Single-handedly destroying a Titan
- Etc.
Are you sure that those assholes would migrate to this one too?

Paragon Fury said:
2: I never counts mods as a "positive". User generated content generally breaks down as such:

96% Absolute, mind-blowing garbage
3% Decent
1% Actually worthwhile, enjoyable or helpful content
And often that 1% is still surpassed in every way by developer content.
This is the most ballsy half baked argument I have ever heard.
Mods are supposed to improve the gameplay, not completely change the game into something new.
But for a total conversion that is actually better than original, see Nehrim

Paragon Fury said:
4: I say "silence" because at least on 360 I can Party Chat with those 4 people while I play, whereas on PC there will be no one.
Wait what? Are you sure? Are you sure that the everyone you would be playing the game with is either going to be a mute or asshole? I mean its only fair to generalize a community of a game which is going to sell 3 million copies *minimum*.

Paragon Fury said:
5: I say the PC community is terrible because they are exactly the same as the console community; except they try to hide it beneath a facade of superiority and deny it.
Way to generalize there. I can say that you are a fratboy that would throw his copy of battle field after playing it for a second and start playing call of duty/halo instead. See what I did there?
