Poll: Because summer will soon be upon us...

So everyone, seeing as May is just around the corner and June is following that it will be barbecuing season soon, in fact it's already pretty warm in my town. And as with any barbecue the appropriate fuel must be used, so everyone... Charcoal or Propane? Personally I like charcoal, gives it this smoky outdoorsy flavour.

Propane gives a cleaner taste, which is good if the meat is good. Charcoal is better though. Throw some smoke chips in for good measure, too.

I agree, charcoal gives it that proper barbecue taste that you spend all winter craving Of course in Ireland our barbecue season is like a week long, then it's back to the rain

I like using chipped wood (usually mesquite or apple wood) to give it more flavor, so I guess.. since we're applying loose definitions of "technically" in this thread.. charcoal.

OT: Charcoal. You can just hammer your meat with charcoal and it'll still be good. You can't do the same by soaking it in propane.

I have a propane grill just because it's easier, even though I enjoy eating food from a charcoal grill.

To be fair, I don't do much grilling in the summer just because it's too goddamn hot for that here.

On topic: I like propane, I find that most people tend to burn with charcoal and I'm not a fan of the taste.
