Being a gamer, what is being a gamer?
I believe being a gamer is not only liking the industry itself but knowing the industry, giving something to the industry in any way yo can; is playing games over and over again to do better every time, to experiment different genres.
Being a gamer is something to be proud of, not ashamed of.

Being a gamer meens you are activly involved in the world of video games, be it owning every one ever made, or just being interested in them. Casual games, however, are dumb, and therefore there is no such thing as a casual gamer, because gamers are smart and casual games are dumb. I'M LOOKING AT YOU, PEGGLE!
Ok, in truth, casual games aren't that bad. I think, Mr. Easterflame, good sir, you were right to devide the hard core adrenilaine junkies, from the soft casual gamers, from experts like myself. And of course the heathen fourth category.

Being a gamer is comparable to me to being a film buff. You're getting the enjoyment out of the quality of the best, but you can also appreciate the cheap, seen-this-a-million-times games occasionally too.

The abbility to play and enjoy different kind of games over longer periods of time is a hardcore gamer to me. A person that only plays that ONE game does not count as a gamer at all in my book. Just a addict that got hooked. Everything in between is casual.

I am a gamer. I like this hobby. I'm not one to casually walk into it, affecting the industry. My opinion is probably very bigoted. But I don't think you need to be even a very good gamer to be one.

A gamer, to me, is someone who does not just play games but cares about the genre and industry too; follows the news, talks and discusses about it, looks forward to new releases, that sort of thing. Total time played and which games are played is irrelevant to me.

Going by that definition, I consider myself a gamer.

I'm an on and off gamer, sometimes I'll find a game that I'll play for a month straight and then I'll go months not playing. It depends. I am always on top of gaming news though so I'd probably have to call myself a gamer.

I never used the term "Gamer" on myself, but if you define it as someone who enjoys playing games while knowing the workings of both the game and the industry that developed it, then yes, I am a gamer.

I'd still rather call me "dude who likes playing games and knows a lot about the larger picture related to them".

I consider myself to be a hardcore gamer, I fully embrace the lifestyle, I spend most of my time on the internet talking about games or looking for new info on games, hell my games collection is the largest collection of anything I own.

I am not that good or obsessive with most games, but I don't play casual games, I play complex games for a decent number of hours a week. So gamer, just that, not cereal serious, not casual either. Yay?
