I don't care if they're fat as long as they understand that I probably won't find the fatter girls attractive. I'll probably shutter when I see the people who look like they weigh a metric ton. And I don't want to hear them complain about being fat while they munch down on some cupcakes.

Other than that, fat people can be fat and it won't bother me one bit.

Really they don't differ from any other person. Only on occasion when they begin to point out their own flaws in the form of comedy or trying to get some pity. Doesn't usually happen. But when it does it pisses me off.
I'm withdrawing your nomination for the Gabriel Iglesias Award. [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3MT2yEvreVc&feature=related] (Fuck me, I wish I knew how to embed videos. Anyone wanna educate meh?)

It's amazing how many treatments for depression tend to give you something to be depressed about. You used to be depressed. Now you're kinda less depressed, overweight, impotent and acne-ridden*. Thanks, science!

*All three happened to one of my friends in college. He's not only depressed though. He had multiple psychiatric diagnoses.

if you are happy with being fat great for you but dont get upset when women dont like you as much as skinny guys

thats my stance but if you are genetically predispositioned to be fat then its not nessecarily your fault
Weirdly enough, I'm not even worried about women; I figure if we're into each other, we'll be willing to look past some surface flaws. It's everyone else that pisses me off! lmao
then more power to you

considering my family has a predisposition for heart attacks, diabetes, and being over-fat i don't really give a crap. I'm technically not overweight but i still am considered hefty, even by american standards. No all those jerks who think being fat is always a choice are ignorant.

As for fat jokes, i don't mind them, but if you use them as the only source of happiness in your life, what a miserable existence you have.

oh and secondly all those people who say "if you like you then i don't care etc." that isn't the question at hand it is the idea of using fat jokes as the main winning point in your rhetoric.

Problem lies in the fact that it's probably hard to distinguish between a person who's obese for mental-health reasons such as yours, and somebody who's just a lazy prick with no self control.
It's not nice to have your tax money going towards the latter.
Same applies for smokers and so forth.

untrue obese people don't harm the health of others, unless it's having 50 of em piled in an elevator cart or something. Smokers are actually a public health risk in general. Second hand smoke in some cases is equivalent to taking a good toke of a cigarette. but i don't mind if people smoke in their own homes.

While I feel sorry for overweight people, I think it is your fault for being overweight, and therefore it shouldn't be considered a disability. Mentally disabled people can't just get smarter with a few years of study, you could get fit with a few years of strength-training. I'm always careful to treat overweight people like the humans they are and not either take pity on them or dislike them for stupid reasons.

However, I almost started to get overweight over the summer, when I returned to school I pulled myself together with daily bike-rides and a simple cut back on what I eat (no food at school). Feeling slightly hungry has it's benefits: all food tastes better when you're hungry. I believe I have been able to adjust my metabolism from feeling hungry every few hours (during the summer) to only needing a meal and a snack (or small dinner) every day during the school year.

I never stated that obese people pose a health-hazard to anybody but themselves. Just lamenting the fact that they get state-support which often seems to exacerbate their condition.
And somebody smoking within the confines of their own home can be problematic. I live and have done so for the last 17 years in a carcinogenic fog. This is one member of my family risking the health of 3 others.

Disclaimer: There is a good chance that one or two of you will be offended when you read this post. If you are easily offended, don't click the spoiler. But believe me when I say that this post was written to motivate those who wish to lose weight. Thank you for reading this first.
To answer the question that the poll asks me,
Do fat people bother you?
I can honestly say, "Yes, they do."

I've been pear-shaped all my life and I hated it. It led to self-consciousness problems, lack of confidence, and deteriorating health. And I too suffered a bout of depression. Then I thought "Fuck this noise" and decided to get thin. Since last August I have lost 57 lbs (~25kg) thanks to smarter eating and regular exercise (including walking to work instead of driving). It's been hard but it's worth it.

Now I don't hate chubbos who have medical conditions (although I do hate the tubbies who use that as an excuse), but most portly people I know don't even try to get thinner. They bother me very much, especially when they complain about being lard-asses or use it as a shield. Getting thin is not something you can wish for and a lipo-fairy pops out of nowhere, you have to work at it.

And you know what the best motivation to get thin is? Not your health, not your kids, but to get those bastards who constantly deride you to shut their mouths. So I'm helping you when I say, "Get your spoon out of that bowl of ice-cream, chunky-butt, before I wrestle it out of your XXXL-sized hands!"

I have no sympathy for people that eat themselves to fatness.
I don't think fat people are looking for sympathy for being fat. I think...they're just looking for people not to cause them even more problems just because they don't like the fact that they are fat.

It's not like people who eat themselves to fatness are asking for Jerry Lewis to throw them a telethon or something.
That wasn't really my point. My point was that I don't feel bad for them or pity them. I know that isn't what they're going for, but that's what some people do feel about them. And I'm just talking the people that aren't depressed or anything like that, I'm talking the people that eat and get fat just cause they love to eat. If they eat themselves into a mess and then start complaining about it, I'd say "well, you have nothing to blame but yourself".

I'm overweight according that BMI thingy, I'm big but not that big..more of a Jack Black big. From my prospective, it might be a family thing too, all of the men on my dads side are big, and my genes just went also along that way too, along with just the mental idea of wanting to be like my dad. I dont mind fat people that much, I mean as long as your happy and just living your life and stuff, thats fine. I personally see myself as a young Santa Claus, spreading my joy around to others =D...on a second note..i hate strechmarks x-x

If your fat, its your fault.

Its simple.
Eating = Calories.
Exercising = Burning Calories.
Not Exercising = Not burning Calories.
Not burning Calories = Weight gain.

Not always the case. Certain genetic disorders can cause people to be fat. Or, sometimes they eat out of depression and some people just don't get help.

Only one bad thing about being over weight; health issues. And unfortunately they are really severe.

I have been overweight my whole life. When I was young and played Rugby it was a bonus and was on the first team every time I played. But as I got older it becomes obvious the issues you are going to have.

Excercise isnt easy. Healthy eating just is not fun or cheap. So what can you do? Well you already know it. For me the change has come as I have decided to join the military. I got to run 1.4km in under 11mins and get up to a total of 5kms under my belt, in one sitting.

For me the chance at a challange and a whole new life has offered me the belief that I can do these things and as I have passed all the things I have no control over, medical, intelligence etc. To fail at something I do have control over, fitness, would suck.

Yes being big will make finding women hard, getting jobs harder, getting insurance harder and unfortunately shorten your lifespan.

But you know what... in the end when the world goes from your eyes. Did you have fun and take as much from you life as you could? If yes, then what does it matter if you are packing a keg?

Everyone can be thin, but it is up to the person.

I used to be really overweight, not sure if I qualified as obese but I definitely had way more kilos than was healthy. It's quite easy for a lot of people who've never been that fat to say "love yourself" or something along those lines but until you're actually in the situation, day in day out, will I listen to your opinion in regards to loving your body. That may seem harsh but during that period the amount of times people would say that stuff to me when I told them I was going on a diet and going to increase my exercise levels pissed me off. These were guys and girls who at most been 5 kilos beyond the fit level. As far as I was concerned they could have no empathy at all because they'd never had any experience with it.

In regards to the jokes, in my opinion they're fair game. If you DO love your body when you're fat then something someone says shouldn't upset you beyond them being a dick. If you don't love your body then those jokes are going to hurt like hell and maybe they'll mobilise you into do something about it.

This is the dreariest comment I've ever posted on these forums, not a single joke all the way through. *Sigh*

I 100% guarantee if fat people would eat healthy, and walk somewhere, they would lose weight. Regardless of all the stupid excuses they come up with.

I'm reporting that comment for being so close minded. Do you not know the definition of GENETIC DISORDER? There are some people with metabolism problems that CANNOT help! It's NOT a stupid excuse!

Not only that, depression isn't either! Now, I'd be all for you if we were talking guys that were fat just because they loved to eat, but here you're bashing all fat people, even those who cannot help it.

Grow up.

Being lazy is not a disorder, its your own damn fault. Stop looking for someone to blame, or something to say "nope, i have x so I cant lose weight, give me sympathy"

There are real disease out there, im tired of fat people complaining. Put the McDonald's down and walk somewhere. It's simple.
