Michael Giacchino. His work on Up, The Incredibles, Cloverfield, Lost and the Medal of Honor games is outstanding.

I admire Clint Mansell and Hans Zimmer too, both have also made marvellous pieces of work.

Hans Zimmer is okayish. But these examples from OP are actually worth listening to. I can't really decide...

Eh? I thought we were keeping this to film composers.
Snip.
Here here, quote from the OP.

Music has never lost it's integral role in cinema. And ofcourse games too.
I thought that means video game composers are allowed. Also, I actually think Daisuke Ishiwatari is better than both of them.

I'd say there is no best. Each of them composes different kinds of scores each suited for the things they have to compose for.

I must say though that John Williams has the most variated track record; space operas, adventure movies, horror, the man seems to excell at making brilliant and immersive scores for almost any kind of movie. So I'd pick him if I had to. Yeah, Danny Elfman is brilliant, but his scores always stay within the fairytale style (whether they're dark like Sleepy Hollow or Batman, or magical like Edward Scissorhands). Yeah Ennio Morricone is brilliant, but he's known for Westerns. John Williams though can do it all.

I am sadly disappoint of the lack of Hans Zimmer in your poll though. Really that man is a legend.

I agree. Also while people have different tastes, tastes also change with time. please add a "no best option"

Maybe not the best, but I'd say Akira Yamaoka defiantly ranks up there as one of the best. I'd also say Trent Reznor (Natural Born Killers) and John Murphy (28 Days Later and Sunshine) are worth mentioning.

I am also disappointed in the lack of James Newton Howard. His music is fantastic (Signs, the Village) And he co-wrote the batman soundtracks with Hans Zimmer

Murray Gold. I know, it sounds like a snobby, nerdish, fangirl answer, but really, his stuff is awesome.

As far as movies are concerned...John Powell is probably my favorite.

I personally never found Hans Zimmmer very interesting, and Howard Shore just feels to me like trying to be John Williams.
Good job at making an objective poll.

/sarcasm off

At least make the title "Best composer of these 3" next time.

My vote would have to go to daft punk, but since they're not in the soundtrack business for too long, Hans Zimmer.

From the poll, Ennio Morricone would win hands down. His work is sublime.
Danny 'Oingo Boingo' Elfman I cannot stand, and I'm not a huge fan of Williams either [aside from the Jaws theme].

Philip Glass has already been namechacked, but I'd say he's my favourite. Jonny Greenwood [he plays guitar for Radiohead, and composed the soundtrack for There Will be Blood] should also be mentioned.

Off the top of my head I can't think of the guys name, but what about the composer for the Conan movie?

Voted John Williams on the poll but idk if he is my favorite. And since no one has mentioned him yet I think Thomas Newman is great.

I chose Danny Elfman. Didn't see the "other" option.

In that case, I'll pick Nobuo Uematsu. He wrote and composed the music for Final Fantasy. However, I love Hans Zimmer, Jack Wall and Clint Mansell too. Their music is awesome.

What about Howard Shore, the composer who made the music for the Lord of the Rings trilogy?
