I am gonna go with Halo Reach here.

The game did a wonderful job of the desperation of losing war. The multiplayer was phenomenal and i especially enjoyed invasion mode. The forge mode was so much better than its counterpart in Halo 3.

On one hand, I love Halo 2s campaign. I got a lot of mileage out of it when I was a wee lad. Also split screen multiplayer with the bros.

On the other, I love Halo 3s multiplayer. I got a lot of mileage out of that as well. I would still play it if it had a larger population. I actually played some with my brothers last christmas, and it was still a blast to play!

Hmmmm, decision, decisions.

I'll vote 2 because it needs some loving in the polls.

Reach
ODST

CE gets my #1 spot. It would probably be too dated to be worth your while now, yet there is a polished version or 2 out there (My Xbox One came with Halo CE-4 and I bought 5: not finished yet). Amazing for when it came out. Solo campaign of 3 felt short, 2 ended abruptly but the jump in graphics from CE to 2 blew me away and the gameplay changed in ways I loved. Sadly, I was playing Reach in April of 2012, just after my 360 had hit its 6th year of life when it RROD on me. I was almost done with Reach, which was excellent but I was unwilling to re-buy it. Maybe if it goes BC on Xbox One or play anywhere on PC

Oh I know. I love Reach. Great game. Just pointing out being the rookie who does everything for the entire time is the premise of all FPSs I've ever heard of.
But it would have been SO much more better if the campaign utilze the gameplay and tacical feature of Star Wars Republic Commando:

You know what would be amazing? A FPS Warhammer 40k DeathWatch game with the mechanics and gameplay strategy of Republic Commandos. You lead a small elite kill-team, customize their loadouts based on their skills and stats, and command them to do shit like overwatch behind a barricade with a heavy bolter, or hack an auto-turret or set up mines or hack a door/cut through a door, or jump pack directly into the trenches of the enemy.

I'd play the shit and fuck out of that game.

But we are getting basically Left 4 Dead in Warhammer 40k with Space Marines vs Tyranids:

It would have to be Halo 3: ODST for me, I spent a shit-ton of time on halo-reach and halo 3 both in campaign and multi-player, but ODST always sticks to me as the game that genuinely enthralled me.

The story to ODST I would never describe as 'great' or 'spectacular' it was always the idea of being the guy that wakes up well after all the drama that had happened to your team, alongside the traversal of the cityscape bringing such a great atmosphere to the world. Chasing the traces your team left behind was so wholly beautiful to me thinking about it now gives me those nostalgia jollies, while playing the rookie sections just felt absolutely perfect as no matter what you were doing it never felt wrong to wander or explore and the way they fleshed the rookie out through his body language was on point.

Such good memories from that game, need to fire it up again as sooner or later.
