Damn, Diary of the Dead was so fucking good.
Just curious to ask, why did you actually think it was good? It was easily the worst zombie movie Ive ever seen, and it didnt exactly work well as satire either (if that was what Romero was aiming for).

I haven't seen it in a long time but I liked the pace of it the different perspective it gave on the zombie apocalypse rather than just "run and scream and shoot" and I guess it was probably just refreshing to me after watching Land of the Dead, which I personally feel is the worst of the series.

EDIT: not that great of a reason but that's the best I can come up with right now. Sorry man.

Dammit I'm the only one to go for Day of the Dead?? It was the last of what I consider 'the great trilogy', and had some of the most edgy scenes and splashiest gore out of them all! Yes it was much harsher and more depressing than the first two but I guess I like that. Plus it's Romero's favourite (according to wikipedia...)

I love Shaun of the Dead. But it's a brilliant spoof rather than a brilliant original film. And Land of the Dead... was ok
I voted Day of the Dead too. I really like the bit where they chop the top half of that zombie's head off, and it's just lying there, upside down, the eyes are looking around. I also like the clown zombie, and the death of that guy (won't say his name, don't wanna spoil it) who says "choke on 'em!". Brilliant.

"You've got red on you."

Diary of the Dead was really good, too. It wasn't a screamer like other zombie films, but a lot of it was psychological horror, similar to what Hitchcock directed.

No i got yah, and I can see why now. That whole premise is also what drew me into it, but i just personally thought that it was executed like crap (poor deaths, unexciting or interesting plot, stupid rule of any dead person becoming a zombie, way too much usage of Myspace and Youtube for one film, etc.)

But thats just me.

Everyone is voting for Shaun of the Dead even though its just some parody movie. Real lame.
A parody movie can't be good?
I wouldn't even say Shaun is a parody and more of a genuine comedy...actually, i'm kind of undecided there.

On one hand, there are all those references to Romero's movies and scenes that make fun out of classic zombie tropes wich point towards parody, but on the other, there is not only an actual story but also one that, except for the general concept, is different from any "of the Dead" movie and character development, wich would put it more into the comedy section for me.

Well, anyways, voted for Shaun. If that hadn't been an option, i'd vote on Night of the Living Dead, because even with Dawn of the Dead being a better movie, NOTLD has a truly great classic feel to it.

Shaun is probably best described as a parody of the premise itself rather than any particular movie. It looks at and makes fun of the zombie apocalypse style movie.

You forgot Zack Snyder's remake of Dawn of the Dead. You also forgot Gangs, which is the second best one; the first being Shaun.

By the way, when are we going to get Dusk of the Dead?

Day of the Dead, the origional . Litrally from the scene where they get back to the miltary base you can feel the dramatic tension brewing, and even if you havent seen the film you just know things are going to go tits up from there on out

Shaun.

Why watch a boring horror (I joke, I'm a complete pussy with horror films) when you can watch something funny?

I liked most of them, but i chose Shaun because sure you can call it a parody but its how I see people really reacting in a zombie movie. The other ones had cooler death scenes but this one made me think "yeah, I'd probably react like that too".
