Fallout probably.

And I still don't get why Mass Effect doesn't count, I mean it spawned a spin-off game, and has it's own comics/books, I'm pretty sure it's a series.

Mass. Effect.

It's made of pure win, seriously.

Oh and if your saying the game series has to have 3 games or more, why is BioShock up there? It's only got 2 games. Mass Effect has 2 games, another one coming and has quite a lot of comic books.

Freespace.... I swear we'll get a 3rd game..... eventually.... just waiting for the right time.... like now.... *sigh*...

How.... about.... NOW! *damn*

I sit and I wait....
Hehe, thanks for that one. I love Freespace, especially how they made you feel part of a huge conflict (no pun intended) despite only letting you take part in a very small piece of it.

The first one is called Descent: Freespace in some regions and came after Descent I and II, so is it a series?

Otherwise, I'll pick Descent (it has 3 installments, so it has to count). I love true-3d tunnel shooters and of all my friends, I am the only one who can read 3d-wireframe maps :). Also, it was impressive how good the surround audio was, considering that the first one came out in the mid-90s. To bad they stopped making them.

Or... Homeworld. But it doesn't seem to count because it only has 2 games and a half.

It's either Half-Life or Mass Effect. Mass Effect is more of the space opera thing though. Half-Life is part dystopia, part science fiction.

Mass Effect first for the stunning amount of effort put into the universe.

Than Half Life for clever and original design, plus the squid bazooka.

I didn't understand what it meant by 'best;, so I put Halo. Simply because it's soooooo fuckin replayable and enjoyable. Critically though, Bioshock hands down. Mass Erect can piss off.

Fallout. You can't beat the atmosphere.
Also this. I can't speak for 1 and 2 though, only three. Which was amazing.

Time to get nit-picky...
Total Annihilation.
There's the first game, then it's expansion,The Core Contingiency, and then the remake for the Spring engine. IT MEETS THE CRITERIA IN MY EYES! HUZZAH!
Imagine:Warfare on a TRULY MASSIVE scale. First game on earth to use 3D rendering graphics. And everything is either a mech or run by a computer (in-universe,of course!)
Plus...The into is beautiful. Just watch!

Transformers had 3 games? Enlighten me man.

And...I dunno, since Mass Effect isn't on there. Does Fallout count?
The Transformers have had games all the way back to the days of the ZX Spectrum and Commodore 64. PLus just recently, there was one on PS2 totally unrelated to the movies, and then the two movie games, and now War for Cybertron.

Voted for Quake myself. The first full-3D shooter back in 1996, it's produced some fantastic games, and the engines developed for the Quake games were used to build some fantastic games over the years (including GoldSRC and Source...)

Before January 28th I probably would've said Halo, but then Mass Effect 2 finally came out and it is definitely better than Halo. Eagerly anticipating the third one and anything else that comes from the masterpiece.

It isn't close to being finished and that doesnt mean shit in my book for its cause
By that logic I can say that Bioshock doesn't count because Infinite isn't even close to being finished.

Seriously, what's with you and the anti-Mass Effect bias? Does it bother you that the game is so popular?
