Okay, so in the run-up to Terminator: Salvation, I thought I'd ask you guys which - of the ones generally considered decent, that is - Terminator game you liked the most.

I liked T2: Judgement Day for the Genesis, but I think my favourite would have to be a tie between Robocop versus The Terminator and T2: Arcade - both because they're fun, fast-paced shooters.

Jesus, was there a good one??

Ah, of course there was. The Terminator on the MegaDrive was excellent, and I genuinely soiled myself when the Terminator was after me.

And it was hard as nails, too.

Actually, of the four on Genesis (Terminator, RoboCop vs. Terminator, T2 Arcade and T2) I consider all of them to be good games except the former (T1), which in spite of being coded by Dave Perry kind of sucked.

And are you referring to T2: Judgement Day on the Genesis? I'm playing it right now and it's good - the mission objectives seem to anticipate GoldenEye - though I can't figure out how to get John Connor to follow me out of the arcade in the third level (the mall).

I actually meant the first Terminator, sorry, I had to check on Youtube to be sure. The first one was very, very hard (or at least it was when I was younger).

And sidebar (even though I'm sure you all know it already) that series, even though I love it and I think it has one of the greatest sequels of all time (T2) it was so rife with paradoxes I don't even know where to start.

I remember enjoying Robocop vs Terminator but I may have just been teenager happy that I was playing something mentioned characters from 18 rated films. Was it a sidescrolling shooter like streets of rage with guns?

Well, to an extent. SoR is a beat 'em up, whereas RvTT is a side-scrolling shooter more in the vein of Contra. And it's really fun: non-stoop shooting, a good difficulty curve, fluid movement, and excellent graphics to boot.

I used to love T2 on the Megadrive/Genesis. I could never get past the level where you have to protect Connor's car from the on-foot robots and the attack plane thingys. So many tries on that level but I never got past it.

However, Robocop vs Terminator takes the best game award for me. I love that game, though it is harder than Ron Jeremy at a college girl's sleepover

I love Terminator 2 on the Mega Drive/Genesis. At least I think it's that one... Basically the light-gun version.

I owned Terminator 2 on the Amiga and thought it was absolutely bullshit. Way too hard. Of course I was a lot younger than and very impatient, but I don't have good memories of it. I think I only reached the second level twice.

It's ages ago, but I remember having a lot of fun with Future Shock. Also, the arcade game with double Uzis was a hoot and a half. :)

Robocop vs The Terminator is one great game and gets my vote. I haven't really any besides that one and T2: Judgment Day.

Terminator Salvation: Will it be good?

We can only hope... It might just be like Gears of War reskinned... AWESOME!

It's a tough game, though not necessarily more difficult than alot of other Genesis ones (Ghouls n' Ghosts? Forgotten Worlds? Ranger X? Rocket Knight Adventures?), especially since the carts frequently lacked save batteries. Then again, I usually set the difficulty to the easiest setting on Genesis games as a matter of course.

I used to love T2 on the Megadrive/Genesis. I could never get past the level where you have to protect Connor's car from the on-foot robots and the attack plane thingys. So many tries on that level but I never got past it.
IMO, the game is great, but also attests to why every Genesis owner needs a Game Genie (again, largely because of the lack of a save battery and the fact the GG - not the Governor General - often lets you skip levels).

I played T2: The Arcade Game a lot in arcades when I was younger. It was awesome! Also because T2 is one of my favorite movies of all time. The Mega Drive version of the game was a lot less fun though.

T2 arcade but only in the arcade. Holding that big gun while playing was an epic experience.
