Sarah Connor, eaily. I'm surprised this is even up for debate. She's the most well written and fleshed-out of any character in the franchise by a mile.
Plus, she's a chick that kicks ass. What's not to love?
Sarah Connor. She was the prey who took out the predator at the end of the original and left her son an arsenal in case they failed. Badass till the end.
The only reason that Kyle can even see Sarah with how far ahead she is is because she becomes a bit of a mess in Terminator 1 when first confronted with what's going on. However, given the fact that 50% of us would react the same way (with the other 50% dying immediately either through suicide or so frozen in fear that they're easy prey for the Terminator), I certainly can't hold that against her.
Jonathan becomes the man he is because of her and he is nowhere near the man that Sarah Connor was/is
A lot of this is due to the performance by Linda Hamilton. I've never seen a character go from fragile and scared to tough and ruthless so seemlessly. Obviously it happens inbetween movies, but it's a natural progression of the character and Hamilton's performance really sells it.
I first saw Terminator 2 as a kid so young John was the one I could most relate to hence he was and still is my favourite; certainly a lot better than the whiny wimp in Terminator 3 anyway. Sarah is a pretty close second though.
Kyle Reese is alright, but I think it?s a bit weird that he develops a crush on a woman who?s only ever seen in a picture. And John Connor is a whiny brat up until he becomes friends with the Terminator, but then he appeared in the two worst films of the franchise: T3 and Salvation.
