So having lost many many hours on Skyrim, i thought about which TES game i enjoyed the most. It came down to choosing between Morrowind and Oblivion for me, and i finally decided on Oblivion. there was something about that game, that simply blew me away.

Anyway, what was your favourite TES game, and why?

Haven't played Daggerfall (yet?). Oblivion didn't do it for me.

I think that Morrowind has a more interesting and varied world to explore than Skyrim. Skyrim doesn't have the same contrast between locations like Vivec, Ald'ruhn and Sadrith Mora (and then all of the different ruin/dungeon types) that you see in Morrowind.

I also felt like it was a better "role playing" experience, where you were free to join a subset of a larger number of factions, and only focus on a few skills that your character would need to progress. Skyrim (and Oblivion) felt more like you were supposed to join every faction and do everything in the game with one character (the exception being Stormcloaks or Imperial Legion). Morrowind felt like it was designed for you to play through it with 5+ completely different characters and see and experience different parts of the game each time. As such I find Morrowind more replayable.

Skyrim did plenty of things better (combat being the most obvious), but that stuff just means more to me overall.

I've only played Oblivion and Skyrim.

Skyrim combat and world design I felt was great, the NPCs were okay but not amazing. Definitely better than Oblivion in a lot of ways.

Oblivion won for sheer amount of quests however I felt more compelled to do a lot of the quests in Skyrim.

If Skyrim's gameplay and world design could be added to all the factions, storyline and quests of Morrowind I think it'd be a perfect TES game.

Morrowind. The landscape, the story, the way that even though it has a kind of standard YOU ARE THE CHOSEN ONE plot, it didn't instantly say it, and definitely didn't make you feel like you just plopped off the boat as a new adventurer chosen by the gods (well, daedra in this case) to save the world. I think I died more times in Morrowind than any other game...The story builds up as you do: you're not instantly the chosen all powerful warrior, but if you survive, you can be.

Also, the world feels real. Despite its aging graphics, annoying UI, and oh god the blocking and missing systems, it still draws me in and feels more immersive than Skyrim or Oblivion ever have for me.

im between oblivion and morrowind, skyrim's combat was nearly perfect, but the story just didnt do it for me. oblivion was just interesting, idk why i just liked it and but alot more hours into that than morrowind, but morrowind had a big alien world and i was abit more immersed in it. i have to say oblivion because i had more fun with it.

Arena - Never really liked it.
Daggerfall - Unfortunately, after a while the world becomes too repetitive, dialogue window becomes too cluttered and there are no mods for it.
Battlespire - Fail. :(
Morrowind - "You're simply the best".
Skyrim - It's better than Morrowind in every way beside one : the setting. There is something really magical to wander paths of Vvardenfell.

Never played Arena.

Daggerfall's environment were too bland and AARGH NO MODS (not it faults, but eh), plus the skills were a bit wonky (as was the game just overall, talk about a broken mess).

Morrowind had the best setting out of all the games, while the execution of the overall game itself was terrible. Nonetheless it did the setting well enough to warrant a playthrough (same with Risen).

Oblivion is perhaps my single favorite game of all time, it felt like a country that I was visiting instead of a game.

Skyrim does what Oblivion did but better, although Oblivion might eke out, considering my fond memories of it.

i know it may sound silly with skyrim out, but i highly recommend you try Oblivion out, like you would any other old game!

DAMN ! Behold me - king of verbalization ! :|
I played Oblivion, and thanks to modding i enjoyed it very much in its time. Yet i lost interest after a while, became bored with it. Now, with Skyrim being much better in terms of gameplay and Morrowind still ruling in the department of scenario and setting, i really can't find single argument for playing Oblivion.

Once i thought about modding it as heavy as possible, but later i was all "meh". With newest TES Construction Set mods for Skyrim will be at least that good and probably even better.

I haven't played Arena or Daggerfall yet, but Morrowind is one of my favorite games of all time so I'll go with Morrowind.

Well out of the only two TES games I've played, Oblivion and Skyrim, I would have to pick the latter. The game is better in very many ways. Except when it comes to guild questlines. I felt they could have done the College of Winterhold questline a bit better.

I've only ever played the latest three main games (Morrowind, Oblivion, Skyrim) and can easily remove Oblivion as a contender. I will have to come back later after thinking about which I prefer between Morrowind and Skyrim, however. Both are fucking magnificent games.

Arena.

Everything after that was just dumbed down crap.
