What I liked about it was-

(The campaign was silly, but fun. Though after the add campaign promoting it I found the entire Washington area underwhelming. Though I'm not American, but I don't think I'd be any more impressed if I saw the Sydney Harbour Bridge, Parliament House or even the Opera House burning similarly. Secondly so for being very derivative.)

- that the multiplayer, when you get a good game going, is fun.

Unfortunately due to game mechanics and a large percentage of the people playing the damn thing, these 'fun' games are one in a hundred.

What I don't like: Lightweight/Commando/Marathon type combinations of idiots running around with knives. Killing someone with a blade is a rather difficult task unless you take them completely by surprise and even then it's not exactly easy. Running around with a knife is fucking annoying to be on the receiving end of, especially if you do actually shoot them with your assault rifle or whatever first, just not enough times to kill them.

That whole setup just grinds my gears something horrible.

Yeah there are other problems to list, but that is one of my main gripes. That and the fucking awful killstreak system. God who in their right mind thought that one up?

Anyway back on topic.

I liked the fun parts of both the Campaign and the Multiplayer, if they had just had a comprehensive Beta testing period (which they didn't have ANY beta testing, so far as I know) it probably would have caught a fair few of these problems.

I bet Kotick didn't want to sign any more salaries than he had to though. Pity.

The Washington D.C. levels. I've never played a game where you can fight through the White House and on the Mall before. The feeling that you just get when you see the ruined Washington Monument for the first time accompanied with the stunning music was nothing like I've ever felt in a game before.
This

I was legitimately pissed off at the Russians for hitting D.C. like that.

The US Rangers part in campaign. Definitely one of the more funner parts in the game for me.

Multiplayer is a pain but watching my brother play it and getting around 35 kills per match, its quite fun to watch.

Then there is the guns and all the customizing you can do.

Definetely prefer MW2 over Bad Company 2 any day. Sure, BC has some good stuff too, but at the end of the day it feels extremely sluggish in comparison to MW.

If I want something with destructible buildings and without extreme-pace fighting, I'll go play ARMA2.
In fact, I AM playing ARMA2.
You all should do the same...

To the question at hand, the best thing about MW2 is that it doesn't take shit from anybody, and regardless of what people say about Knifers and Tubers, THEY STILL PLAY THE GAME.
This is a very, very basic indication that the game is fun, even for the people with nothing better to do than lecture others about a set of imaginary rules.

One thing MW2 has to be clawed up for though, is the Sniping.
You do not snipe at a range of 100-200 meters, period. Only "Police Snipers" ever get that close, and they aren't really "Snipers" as is.
A Sniper is an assassin, and a recon soldier. He does not lay down fire support on a regular basis, and he does not shoot his fair share of enemies in a firefight.
If you want to use a scope on a precision rifle, you roll Marksman, with a Semi-Auto rifle (NEVER; EVER; Bolt-Action), and you do not use a gard damn AS.50 or Barret M107. Period.

Rant over.

Hey, hey, hey. After all, you were the ones who shot up our airport full of civilians.

O.T: The campaign. Sure, the story's more than a little weird, but the set pieces were amazing.

Even though I do hate the game, I will say the level up system is pretty damn good. It has some real weight behind it, and you feel like you actually did something when you level up or get a bunch of kills. Besides that, the game is shit, but the leveling system is really, really good.

I love the weapon variety and attachments.

I love the leveling system.

I love the perks system.

I love killstreaks.

I love the Intervention (not a quick-scoper, but damned good)

I love the M1014

I love hearing the losing team complain about why 'X' is the reason they lost.

So you think. Damn terrorists killed the one man who could prove it was actually other Russians.

All of the terrorists spoke English. And there still was a dead American there. With a machine gun. And a whole airport of victims.

I still don't believe we elected the Ultranationalists, but whatever.

It's fun to play with a full party of friends. Whenever I play it with all my friends, all the sh*t that usually pisses me off, doesn't get in the way of all the fun I can have with my friends. It also means we can mess about, like going all out riot shields, for sh*ts and giggles.

Hardcore mode. It's all I play now. Sure I got totally owned when I first played it but I got better as I went along. Plus it's more of a challenge and I can level up weapons so much quicker then on normal games.

Onine mode, I love paying games with other people around the world, I enjoy MW2... it's a win win for me.

I'm lucky in that, on the PS3, I've very rarely come across assholes on the mic (in saying that I had one ast night lol) so yea, online for me.

The best thing about MW2 on PC is the quit button. On a serious note, I liked the campaign. It may have been to short and story may be a bit stupid, but it was intense.

The best thing about it is when you hear of the other competitors and how much more balanced that their games are.

OT: If I really have to pick, I would say the custom classes, the guns don't really have much variety, there is a good number of gamemodes, but no one ever plays CTF and just opts for "Ground War". The maps are horribly balanced, which leads to the dominance of killstreaks, campers, tubers, and knifers. But even I would give up all the "customization" MW2 has for at least some decent balancing in the multiplayer.

Since I hated almost everything about that game, I'd have to say the soundtrack redeems it a little. It made the game seem generally more epic.

I enjoy playing online with friends. Even if it's joining a Search and Destroy with a full team and all just spinning in circles with riot shields in a small room or laying down in the gutter on the Favela map attempting act like a giant tortoise.

Most people take the game too seriously and should goof off every once in awhile when people use tactics that get too frustrating.
