He was such a tactical genius that even the Mandalorians respect him for how badly he kicked their arses.

He went to Russia and lost because of a winter, like Hitler, he conquered Europe and humiliated supposed powerful nations like Hitler (well for Napoleon it was Austria and for Hitler is was ironically France), basically the WWII European theatre was very comparable to Napoleon, the biggest difference though was the Napoleon wasn't really a homicidal maniac just a successful dictator.BlueberryMUNCH said:Mmmm...he was I suppose. But he was essentially a 19th century Hitler in many ways.Mittens The Kitten said:Napoleon, fantastic war leader, garnered the adoration of the people, built a powerfull empire.
Hmm...what do I think...
Well, I'm not very knowledgeable when it comes to this.
Why? Oh he conquered Gaul, not that amazing it's as amazing as Mussolini conquering Ethiopia, his enemies are technologically inferior, he was richer more powerful more professional and outright superior in terms of military. The only thing he did was turn Rome into a dictatorship. I have no idea why people think he is so great, sure he conquered Gaul but there are many other conquests far more fascinating and amazing. Alexander the Great conquered more, Genghis Khan conquered soooo more, Britain conquered sooo much more, France conquered more, Ceasar?FllippinIDIOT said:Julius Caesar was a great leader, expanding the empire and conquering Gaul, the soldiers loved him and had the support of people. shame he got killed by part of the senate.
Saying that Napeleon is the 19th century Hitler is a bit of an overkill. All he tried to do was defeat the Prussian and United Kingdom. Yeah He did go all the way to Russia, but that was to defeat England (crazy tactic I know), but he wasn't nearly the madmen Hitler was.BlueberryMUNCH said:Mmmm...he was I suppose. ...But William the Conqueror really has to be applauded; he took mad control over England.
But the best...
Genghis Kahn?
EDIT: Also, WHERE IS MY POLL?!?!?!?!
False promises. This is disappointing. This is unnacceptable.

Well actually it was the British that handed Rommel his ass at El Alamein, Patton invaded italy alongside the commonwealth forces, and drove through the lightly defended southern part of Europe after D-Day while the Brits and Canadian diversion up north encountered most of the German heavy armour.redneckboy said:Alright... Patton wasn't a true "War Leader" seeing as he was just a general. However, if he was correct, he automatically wins. A) He handed Erwin Rommel and the entire Third Reich their asses in handbaskets (they were so afraid of him, that, true to the movie, thought that he was leading an attack at Port De Calais to invade, and not an attack at Normandy). Thus, no one can argue Hitler or Rommel. And as I was getting at B) He believed in reincarnation, and thought himself the next life of millions of soldiers and generals, including such greats as Napoleon, Alexander the Great, Genghis Khan, Caesar, Hannibal, etc, etc. Patton=Win.
But he was emotionally weak,Totenkopf said:Erwin Rommel![]()
Why?
Because he's made out of pure awesome.
Seriously, this man is impressive both as a soldier and as a leader (and I have only started to read his book "Infanterie greift an")
I saw the thread-title and he was the military leader that came immediately to my mind.

In that case, The God Emperor of Mankind.Daystar Clarion said:Revan

That's a pretty tiny subset of the possible options, though. Don't limit yourself to the US - that way you can include some real military superstars...Skullkid4187 said:Mine answer would have to be.....Stone Wall Jackson! The greatest military general in United States history!
HE is the best of the best, actually Hitler might have been a bit better.mikespoff said:That's a pretty tiny subset of the possible options, though.
