What I want to know is, when did gamers start beta testing for free? We used to get paid to beta test software and even hardware.
I recently got invited to a beta test for an upcoming game but if there's no reimbursement (payment or at least a discount when the game gets released) why am I going to go through all the frustrations. Sure I can see the idea that it's kind of like a free demo but there's a difference. Usually there are quite a few problems with the beta and you may end up spending a lot of time just trying to get the software to work.
For me, it's not worth it, I'd rather just wait for the demo or rent the game when the complete version hits. What about you?
