I personally like both of the games, they both had good qualities that will hopefully meet in future sequels.

All 100% ?! FTW

Oblivion was very colourful and immersive but I found Fallout 3 to be more entertaining and all action like you know.

It's not your favourite. It's like.

I liked both. And OP missed off Morrowind & other Elder Scrolls games.

None -> I hate Bethesda games, recent ones anyway. They should be tried for murdering RPGs (not to mention the Fallout franchise -> they can do what they like with TES, it's their franchise after all).

Even though I like both, the price goes to Oblivion. I just ´liked the setting more.

Also, welcome to The Escapist Magazine

Both are great but both do have their flaws as someone said. At least it's not to the extent of the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Games; they really were love/hate.

Would have been better if you put "the elder scrolls series" as a choice too.
But I like them all.
:p Too hard to choose between two good games...even tho one...has...nukes..aahhhh...

I preferred Oblivion, mainly because i like running round cutting people up with big swords and you coul still do stuff after doing the main quest but i think fallout 3 had the better gameplay and was in general a lot more fun and the dlc has pretty much solved the ending issue

I didn't put Morrowind or other Elder Scrolls games in the poll because they are different to Oblivion and Fallout 3 which play almost identically.

Why is everyone saying "I liked both but voted for one or the other" He's not asking for a favourite, it's which do you like so you should say both.

Silly people.

I liked fallout 3 more, if only for the reason that I don't really like first person melee so a lot of oblivions combat doesn't seem to work for me. Since these are pretty combat centric games, with talking only able to get you through a few things the combat being good is a major factor. :)

I have to say, I did enjoy Oblivion. It was good for what it was, and the world was fantastic, if a little generic and underpopulated. The thing I didn't like about it (other than the horrible voice acting and boring story) was that it was very, very easy. The fact that enemies level up with you wasn't a huge problem for me, but it did remove any feeling of growing more powerful, which should be a major part of an RPG.

With regards to actual role-playing it fell down a bit as well, as any class could do anything, provided they practised enough in it. As a comparison, in Baldur's Gate, mages can't wear armour, and warriors can't cast spells. In Oblivion they can. Any class can do anything, which really weakens the feeling of class distinction you get in BG.

I know that's a lot of complaints for a game I said I liked, but that's the way it is. I enjoyed it for what it was worth, but it did get boring quite quickly.

You're one of the few people that'll own up to it, instead of playing neither and still parroting an opinion on how "bad" they are.

Preemptive congratulations on going Gonzo, by the way.

I like both but I liked TES IV more because my guy was rich and owned like every house in the game. In Fallout 3 my guy is dirt poor and lives in a crappy penthouse that still looks bad even after i got the Raider theme

For some reason the character models make it impossible for me to like their games, I know its a small thing compared to the rest of the game but I just cannot get past it.
