After my first play of Bioshock 2's campaign, I felt a little disappointed. What story there was didn't really link in with the events of the first game very well, and it didn't impress me from a story-orientated point of view.

However, I find myself hooked on the multiplayer. It has so many nods to the original Bioshock, from the loading screen quotations, to the little sign in Hephaestus that points to Kyburz's office. I've sunk over twelve hours into the multiplayer now, and I was wondering what everyone else thinks about it.

Interesting. This may be the first entirely positive thing I've heard about Bioshock 2's multiplayer. I haven't actually tried it as I wanted to complete the single player first (just finished a few days ago and haven't gotten back to it yet), but it's good to hear something positive about it.

Took me by suprise, as I'm not normally a Multiplayer person, but I've been able to really get into this one.

guy's you have to wait for me to borrow this from a friend, I can give an unbiased opinion because I've never played the original. The multiplayer looks awesome.

The multiplayer isn't the best you'll ever play, but the plasmids make it fresh and fun. Also, the gene tonics make for some Call of Duty-esque perks that have noticeable effects on gameplay. I, personally, find the multiplayer to be a lot of fun.

This may just be my opinion, but I found it to get better later on. I wasn't as impressed with the beginning, but loved the game overall.

Bioshock 2 has you playing as a new character and is set ten years later, how much were you expecting it to be linked to the first?

As with pretty much every game I always prefer the single player. Bioshock 2 is no exception, although the multi-player is still very good.

Although the story for the second didn't have the "wow" factor from the first it was interesting and the level designs and enemies were well thought out and fun to explore. The combat is ten times better than the first and the new weapons/plasmids are enough to make the sequel feel worthwhile rather than just a rehash. There are a couple of directions the story took that I was not too keen on but that's just personal preference rather than anything "bad" on their part.

The multi-player has a few niggling little details that bug me but overall it is solid and works very well. I especially enjoy "Capture The Little Sister" assuming you get a decent team playing, being a Big Daddy while people try and take her feels a lot more "urgent" than in the single player as they actually try and steal her. The trials bug me as they decide to give some stupidly hard ones early on that are worth 75 ADAM (the XP needed to level up) but give you some insanely easy ones later on worth 250, they should have just given you all of them at once and let you do them as you please.

Overall I think the game is amazing, on par with Bioshock, but not really exceeding it.

This is not a debate, single-player should always be better than multi-player.

I haven't played the multiplayer yet, but the single player game is awesome. I'm having tons of fun with it and feel fully motivated to finish it.

I was surprised by the multiplayer, I thought it would be haphazardly thrown together. But, I've been enjoying it thus far. The single player is still my main focus, but the multiplayer is surprisingly good, especially if you're sick of MW2.

The mutliplayer has some sort of bug, where everything's in widescreen but is as graphically detailed as Tomb Raider 3 (despite everything set to high).

So I can't play until they fix that. Having said that, it uses matchmaking so I probably won't bother.

Singleplayer's good - better than the original which has frustratingly bad pacing.

Well, I kind of expected to see some more audio diaries from characters like Diane McClintock and Sander Cohen, but the only first-game characters present were Ryan, Fontaine and Tenenbaum. I also heard somewhere that a patch for the original Bioshock would be released with new audio diaries that would link to the new characters of Bioshock 2, but that never came to be. Also, they had a feeble excuse for not having any of these diaries present, in the form of saying that Lamb was removed completely from Rapture in every way, when she clearly wasn't judging by the very old audio diaries left lying around.

I personally didn't find the multiplayer fun. I got to 24 in 4 hours and it soon became a trend of grenade launchers and ignite!. Most of the guns and plasmids are just horribly balanced. I was terribly shocked that the crossbow and elephant gun are later unlocked weapons and yet they are as bad or even worse than the pistol. Granted I've seen people using a crossbow/elephant gun combo and dropping people across the map, but I suspect some shenanigans because the zoom's accuracy is pretty bad. Also I feel the tonics are pretty lame, besides the later ones which I suspect everyone will take, ie resurrection and death trap. Also the plasmid combos are somewhat lame, ie the game hints are like aero dash through frozen enemies to shatter them...shame it isn't a guaranteed kill like the electric + geyser.
Basically the thing that annoys me is that everyone will eventually have the exact same loadout and the only difference will be the avatar, which is a shame because it makes the game fairly boring.

I'm enjoying the multiplayer very fun indeed. Civil war and survival of the fittest are my favorites so far haven't really tried the others.

I love ADAM Grab, its just so chaotic. That and the deathmatches are my favourites.
