I've found this video that has provided some interesting insight into Bioshock 2's story and gameplay mechanics (They've included melee attacks for weapons) and I must say that, as a fan of the original, I was very skeptical of a sequel. My skepticism erodes with each new video I see and I would go so far as to say that Bioshock 2 may turn out to be better than it's predecessor. Here's the video:

No major spoilers but if want the game to remain a complete mystery don't watch.

What do you think of these new details? What do you think of the new directions they are going in?

I personally love the new themes and enemies that they have added, I particularly like the Propaganda amusement park. The idea of Rapture completley turning on it's secular and individualist ideas in a time of chaos and fear is a great idea I think.

EDIT: I also love the new weapons. They give a damn harpoon gun that doubles as a sniper rifle, that is awesome in itself.

EDIT #2: Some more vidjas fer ya':

I hadn't seen that particular video, but I got most of that information from the other videos, the new hacking system looks much better than the old one.

I wonder how mixing plasmids other than Cyclone Trap will work.

I'm really glad they fixed the hacking. That was one of the only things holding Bio 1 back from perfection.

Also, I'm glad they added Sophia Lamb as the (supposedly) main villain. The Big Sister always seemed like such a lame villain to me.
I really do love Sophia Lamb as the villain, she will pretty much be "Anti-Ryan" and they say her and Ryan had some sort of relationship to each other. I wonder what that could be.
